We’re looking for a Visual Designer to contribute to the shaping of new visual directions at Datadog. You’ll have the opportunity to define how the product looks and feels, while collaborating closely with cross-functional partners to bring that vision to life. This role will focus on pushing the visual craft, polish, and consistency of our product UI to the next level, ensuring it resonates with our audience and stands out in the market.
You’ll be embedded in a cross-functional team of product designers, working closely with PMs and engineers.You’ll craft a product experience that’s polished, cohesive, and distinctive.
What You’ll Do:
- Advance the visual craft, while staying grounded in the established UX framework.
- Polish and refine existing UI components to elevate clarity, visual cohesion, and consistency across the product
- Design high-quality visual artifacts including illustrations, icons, visual systems, and states for micro-interactions
- Collaborate with product designers to align visual updates with UX goals
- Work outside the boundaries of Datadog’s current design system while contributing new visual patterns and refinements where appropriate
- Ensure visuals are accessible, scalable, and production-ready
- Partner with engineering to support implementation and maintain visual quality
- Align with the broader design org on visual standards and contribute to best practices for visual design at Datadog
Who You Are:
- You have 5+ years of professional experience as a visual or UI designer
- You bring exceptional visual craft, with strong attention to detail, layout, color, typography, and spacing
- You’ve designed high-quality UI visuals for complex products
- You’re comfortable designing icons, illustrations, and motion/micro-interaction states
- You’ve worked with or contributed to design systems, and understand how to maintain visual consistency at scale
- You collaborate well across disciplines and communicate visual direction clearly
- You care about accessibility, visual hierarchy, and delivering polished, user-centered interfaces
- You’re self-directed, proactive, and able to work independently while also collaborating deeply with others
Nice to Have:
- Experience with visual design for analytics, monitoring, or data platforms
- Experience in B2B environments where clarity and usability are key priorities
- Experience building and evolving design systems, ensuring scalability and consistency across components and workflows
The reasonably estimated yearly salary for this role is:
$156,000—$208,000 USD
