As the Tax Manager for Global Information Reporting and Withholding, you will report to the Director of Global Indirect Tax and Information Reporting and Withholding and serve as a key advisor to operations, business units and internal stakeholders on the complex information reporting and withholding tax implications of Roblox’s product offerings and global operations. You will apply deep technical expertise in U.S. information reporting to ensure compliance, mitigate risk, and strategically support new product launches and business expansions and preferably have experience with other global reporting obligations. 

In this role, you will provide technical guidance on relevant tax legislation, partner with operations, business and product teams on compliance implementation, recommend system and process improvements, manage interactions with internal operations, engineering teams, and external advisors. You will also collaborate with Product and User Experience teams to manage or design seamless tax onboarding flows (e.g., W‑8/W‑9 collection) that balance IRS compliance with a low‑friction creator experience.

This full‑time role follows a hybrid schedule based in our San Mateo, California office.

You Will:

  • Serve as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) on U.S. and international information reporting and withholding (Chapters 3, 4, and 61), including tax characterization and sourcing of payments to a global creator base.
  • Manage end‑to‑end tax compliance for information reporting and withholding related to creator payments, including advising operations on tax legislation, compliance implementation, and process improvements.
  • Provide technical tax guidance on new product launches (e.g., monetization features, subscriptions, market expansions) to ensure global withholding obligations are met.
  • Recommend upgrades, modifications, and new system or process designs to support accurate and scalable tax compliance.
  • Partner with operations, business, product, and engineering teams to ensure ongoing understanding of information reporting and withholding requirements.
  • Collaborate with product and internal counsel to provide tax characterization and sourcing recommendations for new products, ensuring accurate classification of all transactions.
  • Support internal teams in responding to government notices, assessments, and requests for information.
  • Monitor and advise on emerging global reporting regimes, such as the EU’s DAC7 and Australia’s Sharing Economy Reporting Regime.

You Have:

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance or Accounting, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 7+ years of experience with information reporting and withholding.
  • Cross functional experience working with operations, business and product teams.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Juris Doctor, Master's degree in Taxation
  • Experience working with IRS and state tax authorities on information reporting matters.
  • Experience in tax information reporting and withholding, working in a public accounting firm, law firm, government, or corporate tax department, with technical expertise in the areas of IRS Chapters 3, 4 and 61.

 

 

 

For roles that are based at our headquarters in San Mateo, CA: The starting base pay for this position is as shown below. The actual base pay is dependent upon a variety of job-related factors such as professional background, training, work experience, location, business needs and market demand. Therefore, in some circumstances, the actual salary could fall outside of this expected range. This pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. All full-time employees are also eligible for equity compensation and for benefits as described on this page.

Annual Salary Range
$186,900$228,970 USD

Roles that are based in an office are onsite Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, with optional presence on Monday and Friday (unless otherwise noted).
