Position Overview
We are seeking a high-caliber Staff Systems Engineer to lead our Oracle EPM Planning systems and processes. This is a critical role within the Airbnb BizTech organization supporting Finance. The ideal candidate will be the primary technical architect and developer of the EPM environment with in-depth subject matter expertise in the Finance Budgeting and Forecasting function. Responsibilities include financial forecast modeling, system and AI-driven process transformation, integration with the data warehouse, and the technical mastery to translate complex business requirements into scalable Oracle EPM solutions.
Responsibilities
- Technical Leadership & System Admin
- Application: Lead the design, configuration, and maintenance of Oracle EPM Planning modules (Financials, Workforce, Capital, Cash Forecast, Long Range Planning, etc).
- Calculations & Modeling: Develop and enhance complex business rules and calc scripts. Proficiency in Groovy Scripting for advanced data and forecast modeling.
- Data Integration: Architect and monitor data flows with AWS data warehouse, Oracle ERP Cloud, Workday leverage Data Management, EPM Automate and internal Airbnb integration tools.
- Environment Management: Manage the monthly Oracle patch cycle, including regression testing and impact analysis of new features.
- FP&A Functional Support
- Process Improvement: Partner closely with FP&A to continue to streamline the budget and forecasting process by automating manual offline models and enhancing data integration to reduce forecast cycle and improve accuracy.
- Reporting & Analytics: Build and maintain critical and complex reports using Financial Reporting Web Studio; Smart View expert assisting finance users with ad-hoc analysis and template creation.
- User Support: Monthly forecast cycle user support to resolve critical issues timely; engage Oracle support when needed.
- Forecasting & AI Strategy
- Strategy Setting: Collaborate closely with Finance & Tech leaders to set strategies to deliver next gen capabilities, drive initiatives and projects with clear business value and impact. Cross functional alignment on resource allocation and prioritization.
- AI Transformation: AI/ML proficiency with hand-on experiences on agentic AI and workflows. The ability to identify opportunities and drive FP&A adoption to transform processes into AI-generated forecast, analysis and insights. Experience does not have to be with built in EPM AI.
Requirements
- 9+ years of hands-on experience in Oracle Hyperion/EPM (minimum 4 years in EPM Cloud). Experience with EPM automate, groovy scripting, building forms, complex reports, application optimization, and administering user access.
- 6+ years of experience supporting finance functions (FP&A, Accounting, Treasury, Tax) with strong financial statement literacy.
- Proficiency in SQL for data validation, pipeline troubleshooting, and ad-hoc analysis against warehouse tables.
- Strong experience driving integrations between Oracle EPM and ERP via OIC or equivalent middleware.
- Experience operating data orchestration and ETL/ELT pipelines: monitoring workflow health, managing and re-running failed tasks, reviewing execution logs, and coordinating pipeline incidents with owning teams.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; able to confidently lead and drive cross functional stakeholder meetings. Clearly communicate and document technical processes for non-tech stakeholders.
- Exceptional skills in translating business requirements into scalable solutions within or outside of EPM Planning. Provide options and recommendations for decision making.
