Who You Are
As a Senior Staff Accountant, you will be a key member of our accounting team, responsible for performing period-end close functions including preparing journal entries, account reconciliations and monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements. In addition, you will be responsible for technical accounting areas such as accounts receivable, stock based compensation, corporate allocations, leases, and equity. As the Company grows, this role will partner with the Accounting Manager and Controller to develop and improve the Company’s internal controls, policies and procedures.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Perform month-end closing activities, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and preparation of financial statements in accordance with US GAAP
- Support the annual audit process, including liaising with external auditors,providing audit support, and addressing questions or concerns during the audits.
- Leases: maintain lease schedules, record lease related journal entries, and assess accounting implications of lease related activities based on ASC 842 (e.g. lease renewal or extension, appropriate classification of operating lease vs. finance lease, etc.)
- Accounts Receivable: collaborate effectively with the sales operations team, providing essential financial and tax-related support throughout the sales cycle including quotations, sales order confirmations and invoicing
- Cash: perform monthly cash reconciliations to ensure accurate financial reporting and timely period-end close
- Oversee various key balance sheet accounts such as fixed assets, prepaids, and inventory
- Perform independent research and draft technical accounting memos on various complex accounting issues (e.g. equity and equity-linked financial instruments under ASC 480, stock based compensation under ASC 718, etc.)
- Develop, refine and document business processes and accounting procedures to maintain and strengthen internal controls
- Prepare financial reports for monthly and quarterly meetings with management and the company’s Board of Directors
- Support and assist junior accounting staff in the development of their professional skills
- Perform other job related duties and ad hoc tasks as assigned such as various regulatory tax filings
Knowledge and Skill Requirements
- Minimum of 3 to 5 years of proven experience, including a combination of public accounting and shown experience in a large, multinational manufacturing company
- CPA highly preferred
- Extensive experience with technical accounting research and GAAP reporting
- Experience with mid to large-scale ERP systems preferred in a manufacturing environment (Sage X3,Coupa)
- Proficient with Google Apps (Gmail, Docs, Sheets)
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work collaboratively with team members across departments, contributing to a positive team environment
Physical Demands and Working Conditions
- Move long distances (such as from building to building) and be stationary for extended periods of time
- Operate a computer and other office equipment, such as a laptop, copier/printer, etc in a fixed location
The starting base pay for this role is between $105,000 and $124,000 at the time of posting. The actual base pay depends on many factors, such as education, experience, and skills. Base pay is only one part of Sila’s competitive Total Rewards package that can include benefits, perks, equity, and bonuses.
