Pinterest’s Data Privacy Engineering team builds access control, auditing, and data handling services and solutions used across the company to power Pinterest experiences. We facilitate the governance of the collection and use of hundreds of petabytes of data by dozens of different tech stacks used to analyze data and train models to find inspiring Pins of Pinners. We’re looking for a Staff-level engineer with a proven track record of turning ambiguous challenges into functional and scalable solutions to join our Dublin-based team and build new capabilities and drive future strategy. You’ll grow our mission-critical, high-performance, high-scale services in partnership with industry-leading talent across our stack, while mentoring engineers both on our team and across the company.
What you’ll do:
- Dive deep into our Data Engineering platforms, contribute to their AAA and data-handling code, and become an expert resource in a wide range of systems and development patterns
- Design solutions to enable new platforms and use-cases on those platforms that power Pinterest’s growth.
- Match feature requests to technology and process solutions while identifying technology gaps and issues
- Drive the evolution of our company-wide strategies
- Communicate tactical and strategic vision, and drive its execution across all Pinterest’s engineering teams
What we’re looking for:
- Top-tier coding ability in at least one major programming language, and the interest and ability to learn more quickly. You’re an engineering expert that can jump into any tech stack and up-level it.
- Expertise in the use of logging for auditing and remote systems debugging, and strong debugging skills. You solve the problems that others cannot.
- A proven track-record of delivering highly reliable technical solutions that scale
- Experience with, and and ability to apply, design and architecture solutions patterns patterns across frontend, backend, and storage stacks
- Some experience with SQL or SQL-like systems and big-data systems experience to analyze data at scale are a plus
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in a relevant field such as Computer Science, or equivalent experience

- We let the type of work you do guide the collaboration style. That means we're not always working in an office, but we continue to gather for key moments of collaboration and connection.
- This role will need to be in the office for in-person collaboration 1-2 times a month and therefore can be situated anywhere in the country.
