Within the Ads Modules, Diversity & Verticals team, we try to connect the dots between the aspirations of pinners and the products offered by our partners. We're a high-impact group that owns the entire lifecycle of our products, from initial ideation to production deployment. We're driven by a passion for solving complex, large-scale problems at the intersection of machine learning, user experience, and business growth.
As a Staff ML Engineer, you'll be a key technical leader, playing a crucial role in shaping the direction of vertical ads products, and collaborating closely with product managers, data scientists, designers, and engineers across the company to deliver impactful, pinner-facing ad products end-to-end.
What you’ll do:
- Define and drive the strategy and roadmap for our vertical ads products, shaping the future of ad experiences on Pinterest.
- Lead the end-to-end development of production-grade machine learning models to enhance ad triggering, ranking, and selection, thereby optimizing the ads marketplace systems for bidding, budgeting, and ad placement.
- Collaborate closely with product managers, data scientists, designers, and engineers across the company to ship impactful, user-facing ad products.
- Serve as a technical mentor for other engineers, elevating the team's expertise in machine learning, system design, and best practices.
What we’re looking for:
- MS or PhD degree in Computer Science, Machine Learning or related field
- 6+ years of industry experience
- 2+ years of experience leading projects/teams
- Strong software engineering, mathematical and analytical skills
- Exceptional strategic thinking, communication, and collaboration skills.
- Hands-on experience with large-scale online e-commerce systems is a plus
- Background in computational advertising is preferred
In-Office Requirement Statement
We let the type of work you do guide the collaboration style. That means we're not always working in an office, but we continue to gather for key moments of collaboration and connection.
This role will need to be in the office for in-person collaboration 1-2 times/month, and therefore needs to be in a commutable distance from one of the following offices: San Francisco, Palo Alto, Seattle
