About the Role

Mixpanel is evolving from a single product analytics tool into a multi product platform, and our brand needs to lead that story—not just follow it. We're hiring a Staff Brand Copywriter who approaches this work as a craft. Someone who cares deeply about narrative, nuance, and the space between what's said and what's felt. You'll work embedded with our 6 person brand design team, partnering closely with designers who think visually and strategically while you lead with story and ideas. This role is for someone who pushes boundaries with care and attention. Who asks better questions of briefs and finds the real story beneath feature sets. Who knows when to be bold and when to be precise. You'll have creative freedom to shape how we show up—leading messaging for our annual user conference (MXP), conceptualizing campaigns with depth, and helping define what Mixpanel sounds like as we grow.

Responsibilities

Lead storytelling with substance

  • Own copy and messaging for campaigns, product launches, web, and major brand moments
  • Partner with brand designers from concept through execution—shaping ideas together, finding the thread that connects visual and narrative
  • Translate complex product stories into narratives that resonate emotionally and intellectually

Push the work further

  • Challenge briefs to find depth and nuance—move beyond surface level messaging to something with real resonance
  • Work collaboratively with stakeholders across product marketing, product, and leadership to elevate creative thinking
  • Steward the brand voice with flexibility and intention, adapting tone while maintaining consistency

Drive high stakes projects

  • Lead messaging and narrative strategy for MXP (our annual user conference) and flagship campaigns
  • Develop frameworks that extend creative ideas across touchpoints with coherence and impact
  • Present creative strategy and rationale to cross functional partners and leadership

Shape the brand's evolution

  • Help mature our brand strategy alongside the design leader, building adoption across the organization
  • Influence how we think about storytelling—not just as copy, but as the foundation for identity and connection
  • Bring curiosity and rigor to understanding our products deeply enough to tell their stories well

 

We're Looking For Someone Who Has

Craft & Range

  • 5+ years leading creative writing in branding, advertising, or editorial environments
  • Portfolio demonstrating conceptual thinking and narrative depth across formats: campaigns, long form content, product storytelling, brand messaging
  • Track record leading projects with multiple stakeholders and the judgment to work with minimal direction
  • Deep understanding of how tone and voice shape brand identity, with the flexibility to execute across contexts

Thoughtful collaboration

  • Natural partnership with designers—you understand visual thinking and how story and image reinforce each other
  • Ability to work effectively with product and marketing teams, translating between disciplines without losing creative integrity
  • Comfortable presenting work and articulating why creative choices serve both craft and business goals
