Where we work
Udemy is a global company headquartered in San Francisco, with additional U.S. offices in Denver and Austin, and international hubs in Australia, India, Ireland, Mexico, and Türkiye. This is an in-office position, requiring three days a week in the office (Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday) and flexibility on Mondays and Fridays.

About this role
You will be a key individual contributor for a variety of general ledger accounting functions across Udemy’s global entities. Reporting to the Accounting Manager, you will play a critical part in helping to ensure a timely and accurate monthly close, and you will have regular opportunities to problem solve, collaborate with others, build new processes, and help Udemy scale as a public company.
What you'll be doing

Prepare monthly journal entries and reconciliations for certain general ledger accounts, including but not limited to cash, fixed assets, investments, revolving debt, and prepaid expenses.

Identify opportunities and develop strategies to improve accounting operations efficiencies, effectiveness, and scalability, including the development and execution of policy, processes, and systems changes.

Produce variance and trend analysis for your areas as part of the monthly reporting package to ensure completeness and accuracy of results.

Collaborate with your manager and the internal audit team to ensure there is an effective internal control environment within your processes.

Support external audits and quarterly reviews of the company's financial statements, including preparation of audit schedules and responding to auditor questions and requests.

Work on ad-hoc projects on an as needed basis
What you’ll have

1-2 years of progressive accounting experience

Experience in NetSuite preferred

Experience and knowledge in U.S. GAAP and SOX internal controls
