As a Staff Accountant on the Cyprus Finance team, you'll be responsible for the day-to-day accounting operations of Coinbase Financial Services Europe Ltd (CBFSE), our MiFID-regulated entity. You'll own critical accounting workflows including journal entries, reconciliations, and regulatory reporting to CySEC and the Central Bank of Cyprus, ensuring Coinbase's financial records accurately reflect our evolving crypto business across the region.
What you'll do:
- Own daily operational accounting for CBFSE, including recording journal entries, preparing supporting schedules, and maintaining balance sheet reconciliations.
- Execute daily reconciliation reporting and other periodic regulatory submissions required by CySEC, the Central Bank of Cyprus, and applicable CIF frameworks.
- Partner cross-functionally with FP&A, Tax, Treasury, Source-to-Pay, and engineering teams to ensure proper accounting treatment and accurate financial reporting.
- Support internal and external audit processes by providing documentation, analysis, and timely responses within your areas of responsibility.
- Drive data analysis against business drivers to identify trends, resolve discrepancies, and recommend process improvements to strengthen accounting operations.
Required Skills and Experience:
- 3+ years of experience in accounting or finance within a Cyprus Investment Firm (CIF), Big Four firm, or financial services/fintech company.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field, with professional qualifications (ACCA, ACA, or CPA) preferred; CySEC certifications (Advanced and/or AML Certificate) a plus.
- Demonstrated working knowledge of IFRS, with hands-on experience applying IFRS standards to operational accounting and financial reporting.
- Proficiency in NetSuite, FloQast, and G-Suite, with advanced Excel skills applied to reconciliations and financial analysis.
- Familiarity with CySEC and CIF regulatory reporting requirements, including the ability to interpret and apply regulatory guidance to accounting processes.
- Utilizes generative AI responsibly, maintaining human oversight to deliver business-ready outputs and drive measurable improvements in workflow efficiency, cost, and quality.
