Sr. HR Generalist - Houston Experience Center
at Clover Health
Houston, United States
At Clover Health, People Operations plays a critical role in enabling teams to do meaningful work that improves members’ lives. We’re seeking a Sr. HR Generalist to run people operations on the ground at Clover’s Houston Experience Center. In this highly visible, fully onsite role, you will have direct impact by supporting employees, strengthening leaders, and shaping a high-performing experience center.
This role is the primary People partner for our Houston-based Experience Center, supporting employees and mid-level leaders in the Medicare Advantage organization. As the key liaison for aligning and executing People policy and strategy, you'll operate with high autonomy—running day-to-day HR operations, owning employee relations and centralized performance management, and keeping people practices consistent and equitable on the ground. You'll understand the broader people strategy and execute against it, aligning teams rather than authoring it in isolation. This is a hands-on role focused on manager enablement, culture stewardship, and resourceful problem-solving alongside People Operations and MA leadership, with a small (~10%) facilities-management component.
As our Sr. HR Generalist, you will:
- People Operations & Manager Enablement
- Act as a trusted advisor to Houston employees and front line to mid level managers, delivering hands-on People partnership and coaching to support team effectiveness, employee engagement, and business objectives.
- Coach and influence managers on talent development, employee engagement, and performance accountability, building alignment across differing viewpoints and translating organizational priorities into actionable people strategies.
- Reinforce Clover’s culture and commitment by enhancing manager effectiveness, strengthening leadership capability, and fostering high-performing teams.
- Employee Relations & Centralized Performance Management
- Manage sensitive employee relations and performance management issues end-to-end, leveraging sound judgment to conduct investigations, advise on corrective actions, and achieve effective, compliant resolutions.
- Partner with leaders to drive effective performance management practices, coaching through difficult conversations, performance concerns, and corrective actions while ensuring consistency, fairness, and alignment with Clover’s values.
- Partner with Legal and People leadership on sensitive employee matters, proactively spotting engagement, retention, and organizational risks and driving resolution. Use employee feedback, operational insights, and on-the-ground observations to strengthen people policies and improve both the employee experience and business outcomes.
- Facilities & Onsite Experience (~10%)
- Own the onsite employee and visitor experience at the Houston Experience Center, serving as the front-of-house People Operations presence.
- Own the opportunity to create onsite executive experiences; design employee events and engagement initiatives to ensure a seamless and welcoming environment.
Success in this role looks like:
- Within the first 90 days, success will be defined by building strong relationships with leaders and employees, establishing credibility as the onsite HR partner, effectively managing employee relations matters, and ensuring smooth office operations.
- Within the first 6 months, success will be defined by strengthening manager capability, reducing reactive employee issues through proactive coaching, and improving consistency in people practices and employee experience.
- Future success will be defined by sustained improvements in engagement, retention, and performance, and by being recognized as a trusted People Operations partner who positively impacts business outcomes.
You should get in touch if:
- You have 6+ years of progressive HR experience in a fast-paced or regulated environment, supporting healthcare, call center, or frontline teams.
- You possess strong employee relations expertise, including investigations and performance management.
- You have a proven ability to partner with front-line and mid-level leaders to drive accountability and team performance.
- You have solid knowledge of employment laws and HR compliance fundamentals.
- You are comfortable operating in a highly visible, fully onsite role with autonomy and ownership.
- You are ambitious and see a high-visibility, high-importance initiative as a golden opportunity to grow your career.
- You are resourceful; you dig into existing policies and make grounded recommendations from what you observe on the ground.
- You can align people who hold different points of view and have difficult conversations that maintain culture and relationships.
- You can understand and execute against a people strategy without needing to author it in isolation.
- Experience with office operations or facilities coordination is a plus.
- You have a background in change management, manager capability building, partnership with Legal or HR Centers of Excellence, onsite employee experience, and bilingual (Spanish) skills are a plus.
