About the job
This position is needed to build a trusted platform that ensures all communication on Twilio is wanted, safe, and compliant. You’ll develop scalable, high-throughput systems to detect and stop user, messaging, and voice abuse in real time, and create tooling that powers rich insights for our Traffic Intelligence operations teams. Your work will enable Twilio to lead the industry in trusted communications and stay ahead of emerging fraud and compliance challenges.
Responsibilities
In this role, you’ll:
- Collaborate with a small, high-impact, and diverse team to solve complex distributed systems challenges.
- Design, build, and maintain scalable infrastructure and services that meet Twilio’s performance and reliability standards.
- Own and operate your team’s services in a production environment using a DevOps model, with a focus on quality through unit, integration, and load testing.
- Lead and participate in detailed, constructive peer code reviews.
- Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines using managed AWS services.
- Implement robust monitoring and alerting to ensure system health and reliability.
- Champion engineering best practices including test-driven development, throughout documentation, technical design reviews, and focus on long-term maintainability.
- Manage critical traffic intelligence platform tools and vendor applications in the cloud.
- Take ownership of service reliability and participate in the team’s on-call rotation.

Required:
- Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or a related technical field.
- 2+ years of professional experience in software engineering.
- Strong proficiency in one or more programming languages such as Python, C++, or Java.
- Experience designing, developing, and maintaining RESTful APIs.
- Familiarity with relational and NoSQL databases, including performance tuning and schema design.
- Understanding of CI/CD pipelines, version control (Git), and development best practices.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with a collaborative mindset and ability to work effectively across teams.
Desired:
- Familiarity with AWS networking and infrastructure services as scale.
- Understanding of message brokers or streaming technologies such as Kafka.
- Exposure to infrastructure-as-code tools like Terraform, and container orchestration using Docker and Kubernetes.
- Experience in on-call rotations, supporting mission-critical systems with a focus on minimizing downtime.
Location
This role will be remote and based in India - Karnataka, Telangana, Tamil Nadu, Delhi, or Maharashtra.
Travel
