Pinterest’s Data Privacy Engineering team builds access control, auditing, and data handling services and solutions used across Pinterest’s tech stack. We’re looking for an engineer with expertise in their current field that wants to grow their knowledge and help us tackle problems across Pinterest’s Big Data tech stack. You’ll own a set of features and services that helps internal data users safely handle massive datasets while utilizing the latest technologies.
What you’ll do:
- Own a set of features and implement them across Data Engineering platforms and become an expert in that area.
- Field open-ended feature and support requests related to data handling from engineers throughout Pinterest; we debug into code from across the company to help their owners find optimized solutions.
- Produce reliable, scalable, design documents and plans for your projects.
- Partner with upstream platform teams and downstream data consumers to build end-to-end solutions for complicated problems.
What we’re looking for:
- Top-tier coding ability in at least one major programming language, and the interest and ability to learn more quickly.
- The ability to quickly move across tech stacks to commit and review code changes.
- Expertise in the use of logging for auditing and remote systems debugging, and strong debugging skills.
- Strong understanding of design patterns and architectures in your current field.
- Some experience with SQL or SQL-like systems and big-data systems experience are a plus.
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as Computer Science, or equivalent experience.

- We let the type of work you do guide the collaboration style. That means we're not always working in an office, but we continue to gather for key moments of collaboration and connection.
- This role will need to be in the office for in-person collaboration 1-2 times per month and therefore needs to be in a commutable distance from one of the following offices: Dublin.
