We are looking for passionate and talented Software Engineers to join our Safety & Customer Care team. In this role, you will play a key part in leveraging rapidly evolving AI technologies to significantly improve our customer support experience. We highly value engineering excellence, cross-functional collaboration, and a dedication to writing clean, reliable, and highly performant code.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with Product Managers, Designers, and other Engineers to define and deliver new product features and technical initiatives.
  • Design, develop, test, and deploy highly scalable and reliable software services and applications.
  • Write clean, well-tested, and maintainable code, following engineering best practices.
  • Participate in design and code reviews to ensure system quality and performance.
  • Monitor system health and performance, troubleshoot production issues, and implement effective resolutions.
  • Proactively identify and implement improvements to our development processes, architecture, and engineering infrastructure.

Experience:

  • 4+ years of experience in software development, distributed systems, and infrastructure engineering.
  • Experience with object-oriented programming (bonus points for Python or Go)
  • Experience in distributed systems (e.g.: Kubernetes, gRPC)
  • Experience in defining API schemas and developing backend services in a microservices environment
  • Experience in working with databases, relational or NoSQL
  • Experience in writing clear and scalable design documentation
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills with experience working in cross-functional teams.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a passion for tackling complex challenges.

Preferred:

  • Experience in building with AI/ML systems, LLM APIs (OpenAI, Anthropic, etc.).

Lyft highly values having employees working in-office to foster a collaborative work environment and company culture. This role will be in-office on a hybrid schedule — Team Members will be expected to work in the office at least 3 days per week, including on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. The expected base pay range for this position in the Toronto area is CAD $108,000 - CAD $135,000, not inclusive of potential equity offering, bonus or benefits. Salary ranges are dependent on a variety of factors, including qualifications, experience and geographic location. Your recruiter can share more information about the salary range specific to your working location and other factors during the hiring process.
