Your Impact
As a Senior Site Reliability Manager, you will lead a talented team of Site Reliability Engineers, based in multiple locations around the UK. The SRE team are responsible for supporting Anaplan’s production platforms, with a keen focus on resiliency, scalability and strong DevOps practices. You will lead the team through a rapidly evolving landscape to both collaborate on critical engineering projects and respond to platform incidents when they occur. You will lead retrospectives to identify improvements that can further improve the team’s efficiency and the platform’s robustness and ability to self-heal.
You’ll work closely with other Infrastructure and Engineering team leads to prioritise requests for support, and to co-ordinate cross-departmental efforts to ensure efficient productivity and results that meet agreed operating standards.
As an SRE Manager you will:
- Mentor and manage members of the UK SRE team
- Prioritise complex changes and influence our operating strategy
- Co-ordinate delivery of impactful SRE-led projects
- Approve and uphold standards for our operating environments
- Draw on personal SRE expertise to review and approve production changes
- Support improvements in automation, observability, and reliability practices
- Collaborate with other infrastructure managers deliver objectives on our platform evolution roadmap.
Your Skills
This position provides an excellent opportunity to influence the company’s direction on resilience and disaster recovery as part of a group of global SRE teams. The team works with a broad range of technologies, and as a manager we would like you to have a good technical background, and experience with some if not all of these on day one. You’ll have time and support to learn our tools and grow into the role.
Essential
- Experience managing a team of SREs or equivalent engineering roles.
- Experience mentoring or coaching engineers in technical roles.
- Experience with Agile principles and practices.
- Experience of Change Management processes, and use of Change Management tooling.
- Expertise in problem diagnosis across complex, distributed systems.
- Experience with Git version control, code reviews and modern CI/CD and DevOps practices.
Desirable
- Experience supporting SaaS products.
- Experience with Incident Management, Post Mortems and related practices.
- Knowledge of observability and monitoring best practices.
- Experience operating within one or more public clouds (AWS, GCP, Azure).
- Experience of administration of Linux systems, and of Infrastructure as Code practices.
- Experience of the operation of production-grade Kubernetes environments.
