Senior Revenue Accountant

Overview of the Position:

CircleCI is looking for an operations-oriented Senior Revenue Accountant with a strong track record of process improvement and cross-functional collaboration. This role will have a strong operational emphasis, but it would also be helpful to have a technical understanding of the revenue recognition requirements for a software licensing and SaaS business.

In this role, you will become a primary contributor to the company’s revenue function and have the opportunity to assist with day-to-day order management and the monthly revenue close. You will also have the opportunity to scale and integrate various processes and systems, including improving billing operations and assisting with the development of an automated revenue recognition engine. 

You'll be a critical member of the accounting team and have the ability to make an impact on improving processes and automating systems to keep pace with the growth of the company.

What you’ll do:

  • Review customer invoices and billing schedules
  • Assist with the creation of customer contracts
  • Review revenue and deferred revenue schedules and related reconciliations as part of the monthly close process
  • Monitor the collections processes, working closely with the Billing and Collections Analyst to resolve customer payment issues
  • Work with Sales Ops to monitor and enhance the CPQ order management system
  • Collaborate across departments to develop more automated revenue recognition solutions
  • Leverage the use of AI in contract review, the monthly close process, and other operational areas
  • Validate and analyze customer usage data to ensure completeness and accuracy
  • Ensure compliance and proper revenue recognition in accordance within ASC 606 and any related guidance
  • Assist with external auditors on revenue related requests and documentation
  • Participate with legal in revenue contract negotiations to ensure accuracy and revenue recognition compliance
  • Partner with the sales team on contract structures and guidelines
  • Coordinate with Finance and the Senior Commissions Analyst on the accuracy and timeliness of commission calculations and reporting
  • Develop new operational reporting and analysis for customer usage and other trends and metrics.

What we’re looking for:

  • Experience with Salesforce or HubSpot, NetSuite, and other financial systems
  • Up to date knowledge of US GAAP as it relates to revenue recognition (ASC 606)
  • Experience working for a fast-paced SaaS organization
  • Ability to review and interpret contracts
  • Familiarity using AI tools
  • Strong technical and analytical skills
  • Excellent Excel skills
  • CPA with audit experience, Big 4/regional experience preferred
  • 5 + years relevant experience
  • BA/BS in Accounting or Finance

United States Base Pay Range
$91,000$114,500 USD
