About the Role:
At Gusto, the People team is the foundation of everything we do. Recruiting is core to our ability to grow, innovate, and serve our customers. As a Senior Recruiting Manager, you’ll lead, empower, and develop a team of recruiters while partnering closely with senior business leaders to shape hiring strategy.
This role is more than leadership—it’s an opportunity to influence and evolve how we operate as a recruiting team & driving proactive, creative, and data-informed strategies that balance high-volume hiring with targeted, niche searches. You will directly influence how Gusto scales our CX (Customer Success) or GTM (Go-To-Market) organizations (yes, we are hiring TWO roles!) and create a recruiting model that will fuel our business well into the future.
About the Team:
The Recruiting team at Gusto (also known as Invite) is a dynamic, forward-thinking group focused on bringing world-class talent. We innovate on sourcing, create strong partnerships with the business, and lean into creative approaches that ensure an outstanding candidate experience. We believe in building trusted relationships, driving measurable results, and continuously improving how recruiting supports Gusto’s growth.
Here’s what you’ll do day-to-day:
- Lead & Empower: Manage and develop a team of recruiters supporting CX or GTM hiring needs, from high-volume frontline roles to specialized, senior-level searches.
- Strategic Partnering: Act as a trusted advisor to senior leaders, aligning hiring strategies with business goals, customer outcomes, and workforce plans.
- Program Building: Design and implement scalable recruiting programs that support long-term growth while fostering innovation and creativity in pipeline generation.
- Data & Insights: Build and leverage data infrastructure to forecast capacity, shape sourcing strategies, and influence executive decision-making with compelling insights.
- Innovation & Emerging Technologies: Experiment with new sourcing strategies, employer brand approaches, and tools—including AI—to elevate how we attract top talent, improve efficiency, and increase recruiter productivity.
- Team Development: Empower recruiters through coaching, development plans, and clear frameworks for growth, while removing roadblocks to execution.
- Business Impact: Ensure recruiting strategies directly drive business outcomes and customer impact, enabling Gusto to scale with speed and quality.
Here’s what we're looking for:
- 10+ years of recruiting experience, including 5+ years leading people in high-growth, scaling environments (tech or startup preferred).
- Experience managing a team of 8+ recruiters across levels, with proven success balancing high-volume hiring and niche, senior talent searches.
- Deep craft expertise with a track record of building programs, pipelines, and practices that drive scalable and sustainable results with an ability to iterate over time and changes.
- Curiosity and proven ability to learn and apply AI-driven tools to improve operational efficiency and recruiting effectiveness; not an expert, but eager to experiment and adopt innovations that drive impact.
- Hands-on leader who thrives in the trenches with their team while setting clear strategic direction.
- Strong analytical skills; able to use data for capacity modeling, sourcing strategies, and investment planning—plus the storytelling ability to influence senior executives (VP and above).
- Proven ability to build inclusive, creative, and high-performing recruiting teams.
- Executive presence and communication skills, with a business-forward mindset that connects hiring strategies to business leaders’ goals, customer impact, and revenue growth.
- Energized by the opportunity to rebuild, innovate, and leave a lasting mark on Gusto’s talent strategy.
