About The Okta Personal Team
The Okta Personal team is building the future of digital identity. The way we prove our identity online is undergoing a fundamental shift, moving from scanning physical documents to using secure, portable digital credentials. In a world with AI-driven fraud, one-time verification is no longer enough; the industry needs a reusable, tamper-proof way to prove identity at scale.
To address this massive need, our focus is on building a Verifiable Digital Credentials (VDCs) platform to power this new ecosystem. VDCs are reusable digital records that prove identity, qualifications, or skills instantly, giving holders control to share only what's necessary. We are responsible for the infrastructure, user-facing features, and business of verifying, issuing, and holding VDCs for enterprise customers.
We are a small team of engineers, product managers, and designers who are bringing Okta’s expertise in identity to define the future of VDCs, focusing on open standards and interoperability.
About the role
As a Product Manager on the Okta Personal team, you’ll help us build a new VDC identity ecosystem from scratch, operating at the intersection of deep technical architecture, user experience, and broad market strategy in a highly ambiguous and standards-driven environment. This is a rare opportunity to shape the future of digital identity by synthesizing complex protocols into a seamless, globally compliant platform, ultimately bringing to market a solution designed for massive scale—serving millions of users and thousands of enterprises.
What you’ll do
- Digital ID Verification SDK/API Roadmap: Own the roadmap for Digital ID Verification SDKs and APIs, expanding support from U.S. mobile drivers licenses to digital IDs globally
- Okta Integration Strategy: Collaborate with Okta and Auth0 internal EPD teams to natively integrate our VDC platform into the Okta and Auth0 ecosystem, delivering both low-code/no-code policy user experiences for IT admins and robust SDKs/APIs for developers
- Policy & Regulation: Partner with legal, compliance, and external consultants to translate complex regulatory frameworks—specifically the EU’s eIDAS 2.0—into actionable product requirements for the VDC platform
- Customer Engagement: Drive customer discovery calls by articulating complex VDC standards with executive presence, translating technical capabilities into business value for senior decision-makers
- GTM Strategy: Partner with GTM to execute VDC platform launches, creating high-impact field enablement materials and directly support complex enterprise sales cycles
- Thought Leadership: Serve as a technical subject matter expert for marketing, fueling thought leadership content that builds market awareness and amplifies product launches
- VDC Evangelist: Stay informed about industry trends, competitor products, and emerging technologies in the digital identity space and share knowledge with the team
- Strategic Partnerships: Evaluate and execute on high-value partner opportunities to accelerate ecosystem growth, leveraging external collaborations for both product integration and market distribution
You have
- 5+ years of Product Management experience working on an enterprise product, ideally within identity or security
- Strong technical background
- Experience building for developers: A track record of shipping developer-facing products (SDKs, APIs) with a strong focus on reducing friction and delivering excellent developer experience
- AI proficiency: Experience using AI tools to accelerate product development, from generating rapid prototypes to drafting specs
- Comfort with emerging standards: The ability to navigate and define product requirements for technology that is not yet widely adopted (e.g., decentralized identity, verifiable credentials), turning ambiguity into a clear roadmap.
- Relentless advocacy: The resilience to push nascent technology forward, capable of influencing internal teams to prioritize integrations and driving adoption with early-stage customers.
- Exceptional communication skills: The ability to convey complex ideas through written, visual, and verbal communication, ranging from detailed specs to strategic executive presentations.
- Intellectual curiosity: A willingness to continuously learn and bring new knowledge, industry trends, and fresh perspectives back to the team.
