Senior Manager, SRE- PKI

United States

At GoDaddy the future of work looks different for each team. Some teams work in the office full-time, others have a hybrid arrangement (they work remotely some days and in the office some days) and some work entirely remotely.

This is a hybrid position. You’ll divide your time between working remotely from your home and an office, so you should live within commuting distance. Hybrid teams may work in-office as much as a few times a week or as little as once a month or quarter, as decided by leadership. The hiring manager can share more about what hybrid work might look like for this team.

This position is not eligible to be performed in Alaska, Mississippi, North Dakota, or the Virgin Islands.

GoDaddy is not currently considering candidates for this role in California, Seattle, or NYC.

GoDaddy is seeking an exceptional Senior Manager of Site Reliability Engineering to lead our Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) operations. In this pivotal role, you'll lead a talented team responsible for the day-to-day operations, engineering initiatives, and compliance activities that support our global PKI ecosystem. As an SRE and infrastructure engineering leader, you'll be accountable for the operational readiness, reliability, and resilience of platforms that form the foundation of trust for millions of users worldwide. This position combines strategic vision with hands-on operational execution, requiring you to drive highly available, scalable, and secure architectures through automation, capacity planning, and fault-tolerant design. You'll lead cross-functional execution of PKI operational requirements, including ownership and participation in high-assurance, on-site data center PKI compliance ceremonies. As a Senior SRE Manager you will excel if you are a passionate technologist with deep expertise in security, applied cryptography, and distributed systems who thrives on building trust-based partnerships across engineering, security, compliance, and infrastructure teams. If you're energized by the challenge of ensuring cryptographic systems meet the highest standards of integrity, availability, and compliance while fostering a culture of continuous improvement and operational excellence, we want to hear from you.

What you'll get to do...

  • Own and execute operational readiness and compliance programs, including high-assurance PKI ceremonies, security audits, and CAB-governed change milestones that meet strict reliability standards.
  • Engineer near-zero-downtime operations for Tier 0 systems through advanced automation, observability, proactive monitoring, and disciplined incident response practices.
  • Mentor and develop SRE talent by coaching engineers to think both tactically and strategically, elevating technical depth, operational judgment, and reliability ownership across the team.
  • Lead cross-functional technical projects spanning SRE, Security, and Infrastructure teams, translating strategic goals into executable workstreams with clear priorities and milestone tracking.

Your experience should include...

  • 8+ years in Site Reliability, Systems, or Security Engineering, supporting Tier 0 or trust-critical services with proven experience in certificate lifecycle management and PKI frameworks.
  • Demonstrated success leading complex, cross-functional technical projects with strong background in automation, observability, and driving operations to meet established SLOs.
  • Experience leading and developing SRE teams with strong stakeholder management and cross-team influence skills to drive business decisions.
  • Proficiency with configuration management tools (Salt, Ansible), Linux systems, containerization, and monitoring tools (Grafana, Prometheus, ElasticSearch), plus scripting in Bash, Python, or Go.
  • Deep understanding of PKI frameworks, TLS protocols, applied cryptography, distributed systems, and compliance frameworks (SOC 2, NIST, PCI).

You might also have...

  • Hands-on experience with Hardware Security Modules (HSMs) in enterprise environments.
  • Experience working with public or private Certificate Authorities.
  • Experience working in datacenter environments during high-pressure or time-sensitive situations.
  • Background participating in or leading security audits and compliance assessments.
