The role:
The SoFi Senior Manager, Invest, Crypto & Banking is a collaborative, well-organized, action-oriented individual with exceptional leadership and time management skills, confident in presenting, facilitating, and building a network of strong relationships across our organization. This is a leader who will manage a team of accounting professionals. This individual will serve as the SoFi Securities (Broker-dealer) Financial and Operations Principal (FinOp) and be the primary individual to oversee the financial operations and reporting for SoFi Securities. This individual will serve as a pivotal finance leader responsible for both traditional securities regulatory requirements and evolving digital asset environments. This individual will also support SoFi Bank Products primarily Crypto and Banking products from an accounting perspective working in close coordination with Finance, SEC & Regulatory Reporting, Compliance, Technologies, and various other teams.
What you’ll do:
Financial & Regulatory Compliance
- Serve as the firm’s designated FINOP under FINRA and SEC rules and be accountable for the accuracy and timeliness of all broker-dealer regulatory financial submissions.
- Oversee and certify routine regulatory filings, including FOCUS Reports (Form X-17A-5), Supplemental SSOI, and other required schedules.
- Monitor Net Capital and Customer Protection Rule 15c3-3 reserve computations weekly as required.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for FINRA, SEC, auditors, and external examiners on financial operations matters.
- Maintain accurate books and records in line with applicable U.S. GAAP and SEC Rules.
- Oversee financial statement preparation, including balance sheet, income statement, and reconciliations.
- Lead month-end close processes and general ledger maintenance in partnership with accounting teams.
- Manage audit cycles, including annual broker-dealer audits and ongoing internal and compliance audits.
Crypto Accounting & Banking
- Build and maintain accounting policies for digital assets (crypto trading, custody, etc.) that comply with U.S. accounting standards and regulatory expectations.
- Supervise reconciliation of crypto wallets/exchanges, valuation methods, and transaction flows.
- Collaborate with legal, compliance, business and tax teams to interpret evolving crypto accounting guidance.
- Oversee new and existing banking products as assigned and assist in building and implementing new processes.
- Coordinate cross functionally to ensure accurate and timely accounting and reporting for other Banking products.
Controls, Risk & Process Improvement
- Gain a working understanding of the SoFi systems and how transactions flow between systems and the general ledger and helping with securing the best independent support for the team and looking for opportunities to further automate and streamline processes.
- Design, implement, and monitor internal controls over financial reporting and operations.
- Identify opportunities to automate, improve efficiency, and enhance accuracy of accounting and regulatory processes.
- Lead cross-functional initiatives to strengthen operational and financial controls.
- Support regulatory reporting to ensure compliance with the reporting guidelines issued by FINRA, the Federal Reserve Bank (FRB) and Office of Comptroller of Currencies (OCC) including supporting exams by regulatory agencies.
- Work to streamline and improve the reconciliation processes including automation within the reconciliation tool.
- Analyze accounts, journal entries, subsidiary ledgers, and other accounting documents for accuracy and completeness in connection with reconciliations.
- Perform analytical review of the Balance Sheet and Income Statement
What you’ll need:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or equivalent.
- CPA License
- Active FINRA Series 27 Financial and Operations Principal or eligibility to obtain.
- 8+ years of relevant experience in broker-dealer financial reporting, regulatory compliance, Banking/Financial Services and operations.
- Strong knowledge of SEC Net Capital Rules (15c3-1), Customer Protection Rules (15c3-3), and FINRA reporting frameworks.
- Deep understanding of U.S. GAAP and experience with complex accounting environments.
- Experience with general ledger systems, reconciliations, and financial controls.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Knowledge of financial and regulatory reporting
- Knowledge of regulatory audit and process review
- Strong leadership presence with roll-up the sleeves and get work done mentality
- Excellent relationship management and conflict resolution skills with a proven track record of positively collaborating, influencing, and extensively coordinating with internal and external partners
- Excellent written and verbal communications with ability to communicate complex concepts in simple terms
- Ability to be flexible, prioritize multiple demands, and effectively manage in a matrix organization.
- Ability to think strategically.

- Computer skills, including Excel, Word, and general ledger and reconciliation systems
Nice to have:
- Experience with crypto asset accounting or fintech environments.
- Hands-on experience with bank accounting and bank reconciliations.
- Prior experience in a high-growth fintech or digital asset company.
- Master’s degree in Finance/Accounting
- Experience with Workday Financials and Cadency reconciliation tool
- Series 99 License
