About the Team & Opportunity
This is a ground-floor opportunity to build and lead the new Integrations Engineering team, responsible for securely linking Clever to the essential systems K-12 schools rely on. As the manager, you will define the structure, processes, and technical strategy for this critical function. You'll solve the core problem of seamless, secure data transfer, ensuring every educator and student has instant, reliable access to the digital learning tools they need. This is a highly visible, customer-facing role where you will build a function from scratch and lead a team that powers Clever’s next phase of growth.
How You’ll Make an Impact
You will lead the creation and scaling of a critical function within Clever. Your core responsibilities will be to ensure school organizations have secure, high-quality, and reliable data integrations, ultimately driving user success and platform stability.
- The problem you’ll solve: You will build and uplevel Clever’s technical vision, process, and standards for building, enhancing, and maintaining all system-to-system integrations and connectors between Clever and our school partners, ensuring seamless data flow for millions of students.
- What you’ll be responsible for: You will build a team from the ground up and be responsible for managing, mentoring, and hiring 2+ Integration Engineers,, focusing on their performance, career development, and technical growth. You will oversee the operational health of all integrations and connectors, ensuring reliability, swift resolution of issues, and continuous enhancement through deep expertise in JavaScript, TypeScript, and SQL.
- Who you’ll partner with: You will be a crucial technical expert in customer-facing interactions, gathering requirements, iterating on solutions, and ensuring technical alignment in collaborating with Technical Pre-Sales, Onboarding, Product, and Engineering teams.
Key projects you’ll lead: You will lead the delivery of high-profile strategic integration development and standardization through strong project management to ensure timely delivery and high-quality deployments.
What We’re Looking For
Required Skills & Experience (Must-Haves)
- 4+ years of experience in a management role, overseeing Integrations and connectors, ETL or Integration Engineers, including full responsibility for hiring, onboarding, performance management, and career development.
- A minimum of 6+ years of total experience in ETL Engineering, Integration Engineering, or Software Engineering roles.
- Operational excellence in establishing, implementing, and tracking KPIs (delivery timelines, integration quality, error rates, customer satisfaction)
- Expertise in developing and maintaining integrations using JavaScript, TypeScript, and SQL.
- Exceptional customer-facing experience with a proven ability to gather technical requirements, present solutions, and iterate with external partners.
- Excellent project management skills to ensure integrations are delivered on time, within scope, and with high quality.
- Proven operational and technical skills in maintaining, fixing, and enhancing deployed integrations in a production environment.
- Ability to act as a player-coach, stepping in to do hands-on development when needed while also managing the team.
Preferred Qualifications (Nice-to-Haves)
- Experience building an integration team from the ground up or defining a new technical function.
- Deep expertise in the EdTech, K-12 sector, or Enterprise data industry.
- Demonstrated ability to work closely with Platform Engineering teams to define and leverage APIs and frameworks for scalable integration development.
- A collaborative and creative problem-solver in solving complex technical integrations and cross-functional problems.

Salary Transparency
The range of our base salary cash compensation for this role for candidates living in the United States, besides NYC and San Francisco, CA, is between $166,000 - $195,000. For candidates living in NYC and San Francisco, CA, it's between $182,000 - $214,000. All final offers are determined using multiple factors, including experience and level of expertise.
