Okta is looking for a Senior Analyst, Indirect Tax to join our India based tax team to support our rapid expansion globally. The ideal candidate for the Senior Analyst role would be someone who has spent time working in a Big 4 (or equivalent) firm or with aIT/ITES company, focusing on indirect tax matters. This role will assist the global indirect tax function with the global indirect tax compliance calendar, and will also be involved in the continued global expansion efforts. The Senior Analyst, Indirect Tax has the following key responsibilities:
- Review Global indirect tax compliance prepared externally and coordinate final review with the Indirect Tax Team.
- Assist on indirect tax audits and reviews through data collection and research support.
- Collaborate on the development of internal controls and tax automation processes to streamline tax return preparation.
- Drive the adoption and optimization of tax technology solutions, including ERP systems, data tools (e.g. Alteryx, Power BI), and automation technologies (RPA).
- Lead initiatives to improve data quality, enhance tax processes, and drive efficiencies for tax compliance and reporting.
- Help to support analysis and direction for ad hoc projects related to indirect taxes.
- Maintain the indirect tax compliance calendar for indirect tax licenses, filings.
- Prepare indirect tax returns for various jurisdictions.
- Liaise with other key tax, accounting, and finance professionals on process improvement projects.
- Maintain tax balances within the general ledger by overseeing the preparation of aging and tax account reconciliations.
- Ensure the remittance of timely tax payments.
Qualifications
- 4+ years of experience in a Big-4 firm or multi-national company with increasing responsibilities.
- Experience in both public accounting and corporate tax departments is preferred.
- Understanding of SAAS/Digital Services/IT/ITES services preferred.
- Knowledge of Indian indirect tax matters (including GST and TDS), as well as a broad understanding/experience with indirect tax matters in other VAT and GST countries globally.
- Demonstrable facility with and knowledge of one or more common ERP platforms ; experience with Avalara, NetSuite and Alteryx is a plus.
- Excellent writing and verbal communication skills; ability to research complex indirect tax and related issues and effectively communicate findings in writing to management and internal stakeholders.
- Ability to issue spot and proactively develop indirect tax compliance solutions in a fast-paced technology environment.
- Experience working in cross-functional, multi-jurisdictional environments preferred.
- Proficiency in data analytics tools and tax reporting automation preferred.
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
- Growth mindset and willingness to embrace change.
- Bachelor or Master’s degree in tax law or tax economics (accounting knowledge is strongly preferred).
- Organized, self-motivated with a cooperative attitude.
