As Marqeta's Senior Director, Talent Acquisition, you will play a critical, executive-level role in defining and executing the long-term talent strategy for Marqeta’s workforce. You'll directly influence the structure and growth trajectory of all departments and organizations and will operate as a strategic advisor to executive leadership, translating business strategy into an actionable, enterprise-wide talent acquisition roadmap that successfully recruits and retains the high-quality candidates needed to move the business forward.

We work Flexible First. This role can be performed remotely anywhere within the United States or from our Oakland office. We’d love for you to join us!

The Impact You’ll Have

  • Executive Strategy: Define, develop, and drive the multi-year, enterprise-wide talent acquisition strategy, ensuring alignment with Marqeta's overall business objectives, global expansion, and market positioning.
  • Team Leadership: Hire, coach, and lead a high-performing, global team of recruiting leaders and individual contributors, fostering a culture of operational excellence, innovation, and scalability across all recruiting processes.
  • Vision & Influence: Communicate a compelling, long-term vision and sense of purpose for the Talent Acquisition function. Influence executive stakeholders on critical talent decisions, leveraging data and strategic insight.
  • Talent Branding: Shape and activate Marqeta's talent brand to win top talent. Partner across teams to define our unique value proposition, then bring it to life through digital presence, content, candidate experience, and employee advocacy. Establish metrics that prove we're attracting the right people and gaining competitive advantage in key talent markets.
  • System & Data Mastery: Own the strategy and architecture for recruiting systems to maximize efficiency, data integrity, and strategic reporting. Create executive-level reporting that provides predictive insights and measures the business impact of talent acquisition efforts.
  • Executive Partnership: Partner directly with the Executive Leadership Team and department heads to forecast and manage complex, multi-year headcount plans and capacity planning across all business functions.
  • Market Intelligence: Develop and maintain a deep, executive-level understanding of the competitive talent landscape, emerging industry trends, and the global market to position Marqeta as an employer of choice.
  • Cross-Functional Leadership: Lead and participate in strategic, cross-functional initiatives and projects that support the company's long-term corporate strategies and business objectives.

Who You Are

  • 12+ years of progressive experience in Recruiting, Talent Acquisition, or Human Resources, with at least 8 years of experience leading high-performing, multi-location, or global teams within a hyper-growth environment at progressive companies.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate at a strategic and tactical level, coaching, empowering, and developing senior talent. Deep-seated passion for building a diverse and inclusive global team.
  • Superior communication skills (verbal, written, and presentation) to influence and articulate strategy to all levels, from individual contributors through the CEO and Board of Directors.
  • Proven track record of initiating, innovating, and delivering complex, high-impact results across an enterprise.
  • Exceptional analytical, program, and project management skills for large-scale initiatives.
  • Extensive experience translating complex data and analytics into actionable executive insights to influence business strategy and measure organizational impact.
  • Deep knowledge of the candidate lifecycle and a proven track record of designing, developing, and managing world-class recruiting processes that ensure a premium candidate experience globally.
  • High capacity to learn quickly, effectively prioritize, manage extreme ambiguity, and drive organizational change in a dynamic environment.

Compensation and Benefits

Marqeta is a Flex First company which allows you to choose your best working environment, whether that be from home or at a company office. To support Flex First, we calibrate pay to a competitive value according to working location. Compensation is aligned according to three tiers within the United States:

  • National: A baseline tier that applies to most of the geographic territory of the United States.
  • Premium: Slightly elevated from the National tier, and oriented toward a narrower set of higher cost-of-living areas, such as Los Angeles CA and Seattle WA
  • Premium Plus: A tier for the most expensive working areas, like the San Francisco Bay area and New York City.

When determining salaries, we consider several factors including, but not limited to, skills, prior experience, and work location. The new-hire base salary range for this position is:

  • National: $219,400 - $274,200
  • Premium: $233,400 - $291,800
  • Premium Plus: $247,400 - $309,300
