The Team

Our Cloud Operations team is responsible for maintaining and scaling the cloud infrastructure that powers Five9’s SaaS platform. We design, implement, and optimize solutions that ensure high availability, performance, and security for our global customer base.

As part of this team, you will collaborate with cross-functional partners in Engineering, Security, and Operations to drive automation, reliability, and operational excellence across our AWS environments.

About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled CloudOps Engineer (L2) with deep expertise in Amazon Web Services (AWS) to join our growing team. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining cloud infrastructure and SaaS applications with a strong focus on scalability, availability, and security.

You will work closely with development, operations, and security teams to automate deployments, optimize performance, and ensure consistent service delivery across environments.

Key Responsibilities

Ensure maximum uptime and reliability for customers in our SaaS environment.
Provision and manage customer tenants across staging and production environments.
Design, deploy, and maintain secure and scalable AWS cloud infrastructure leveraging services such as EC2, S3, RDS, Lambda, and CloudFormation.
Implement infrastructure as code (IaC) using Terraform, AWS CloudFormation, or AWS CDK for consistent and automated provisioning.
Automate manual processes and configuration management using Ansible, Python, or shell scripting.
Monitor and respond to incidents by implementing robust observability solutions (e.g., CloudWatch, Grafana, Prometheus) to maintain uptime and system reliability.
Execute cost optimization strategies, including resource rightsizing, Reserved and Spot Instances, and usage analysis.
Develop and maintain backup and disaster recovery processes leveraging AWS-native tools such as AWS Backup, S3 versioning, and RDS snapshots.
Enforce security and compliance best practices, including IAM configuration, encryption standards, and network security controls.
Manage and support containerized applications using Docker and Kubernetes (EKS) for scalable deployments.
Participate in on-call rotations to ensure 24/7 operational coverage and rapid incident resolution.

Minimum Qualifications

5–8 years of experience in Cloud Operations, Infrastructure Management, or DevOps Engineering.
Proven expertise in AWS services (EC2, S3, RDS, VPC, Lambda, IAM, CloudFormation, etc.).
Hands-on experience with Terraform for provisioning and automation.
Strong scripting skills in Python, Bash, or PowerShell for cloud automation and tooling.
Practical experience with monitoring and logging tools such as AWS CloudWatch, Prometheus, Datadog, or ELK Stack.
Solid understanding of networking fundamentals, security best practices, and IAM policies.
Experience troubleshooting SaaS application performance, system reliability, and service disruptions in cloud environments.
Working knowledge of containerization and orchestration technologies such as Docker, Kubernetes, ECS, or EKS.
Ability to work in a 24/7 operational environment with rotational shifts.

Preferred Qualifications

AWS certifications such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect or AWS Certified DevOps Engineer.
Experience in hybrid cloud environments and on-premises to cloud migrations.
Familiarity with other cloud platforms (Azure, GCP) and multi-cloud management.
Knowledge of database (RDS, DynamoDB) and caching solutions (Redis, ElastiCache).
