We are seeking a Data Engineer (Python) with a strong development mindset and the ability to rapidly translate high-level requirements into working solutions using modern AI-assisted development tools. This role is focused on building fast, iterating quickly, and adapting to new frameworks and systems, leveraging tools such as AI coding assistants (e.g., Cursor, Copilot, Claude Code) to accelerate development workflows.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain backend services using Python and modern frameworks (e.g., FastAPI).
• Translate high-level product or business requirements into working technical solutions quickly.
• Use AI-assisted development tools (e.g., Cursor, Copilot, similar) to accelerate coding, refactoring, and migrations.
• Adapt rapidly to new codebases, frameworks, and architectures.
• Build and iterate on features with a strong focus on speed and practicality.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ship solutions under evolving requirements.

Must-have Skills 

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related quantitative field.
• 5+ years of progressive experience in data engineering, with at least 3 years in a lead or leadership capacity.
• Strong proficiency in Python and backend development (FastAPI or similar frameworks).
• Solid understanding of software engineering fundamentals (APIs, databases, system design basics).
• Demonstrated ability to learn new technologies and frameworks quickly.
• Experience using AI-assisted coding tools to speed up development (e.g., Cursor, GitHub Copilot, Claude Code, etc.).
• Strong problem-solving skills with a bias toward execution and delivery.
• Comfortable working in fast-changing, ambiguous environments.
• Micro Services and API experience is also important.

Nice-to-have:

• AI Tooling Proficiency: Leverage one or more AI tools to optimize and augment day-to-day work, including drafting, analysis, research, or process automation. Provide recommendations on effective AI use and identify opportunities to streamline workflows.
• Experience with LLMs or generative AI APIs.
• Experience with rapid prototyping or MVP development.
• Experience with system migrations or working across different tech stacks.
