This position is based in our New York City office.

Job Summary

The Senior Audio Video Engineer will be responsible for the design, installation, configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of complex audio-visual systems, including providing white glove executive support. This role will play a key part in executive support, specifically due to the heavy executive presence in our New York City office. This role requires deep technical expertise, strong problem-solving abilities, and a proven track record of delivering high-quality AV solutions in a professional environment. The ideal candidate will also mentor junior engineers and contribute to the continuous improvement of our AV operations.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design and implementation of advanced AV systems, including video conferencing, live event support, digital signage, and unified communications
  • Perform comprehensive site surveys, technical assessments, and needs analyses to inform system design
  • Configure, calibrate, and optimize a wide range of AV equipment, including professional displays, projectors, audio mixers, DSPs, amplifiers, microphones, and cameras
  • Develop and implement strategic plans to optimize global support operations, enhance user experience, and improve service delivery
  • Identify and implement innovative solutions to automate processes, improve workflows, and enhance support capabilities using shift-left principles
  • Continuous improvement mindset; proactively evaluate and enhance support processes to ensure efficiency and effectiveness
  • Provide exceptional hands-on executive support, both in-person and remotely
  • Conduct thorough testing and commissioning of newly installed systems to ensure optimal performance and adherence to specifications
  • Provide expert-level troubleshooting and resolution for complex AV system issues, often under pressure during critical events or meetings
  • Utilize data to analyze performance, identify trends, and drive improvements in support services
  • Provide regular reports and insights to leadership on AV performance and initiatives
  • Own and implement a streamlined process for identifying, alerting on, and reporting end-of-life (EOL) AV hardware. Share this information with leadership to facilitate accurate budgeting for each fiscal year
  • Develop and maintain detailed system documentation, including schematics, wiring diagrams, and operational procedures
  • Manage and execute preventative maintenance schedules for all AV infrastructure
  • Collaborate closely with IT, facilities, and external vendors to ensure seamless integration and project delivery
  • Stay current with emerging AV technologies, industry best practices, and relevant certifications
  • Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior AV engineers and support staff
  • Design, implement, manage, and train team members on AV-related inventory and coordinate with procurement for equipment needs
  • Be a leader in the development of AV standards and procedures
  • Establish and maintain standards, best practices, and documentation for AV environments
  • Act as a subject matter expert (SME) in cross-functional AV projects

Skillsets

Technical Expertise

  • Audio Systems: Advanced knowledge of professional audio mixers (e.g., Biamp, QSC, Extron), DSPs (e.g., Q-SYS, Biamp Tesira), amplifiers, speaker systems, microphone technologies (wired, wireless, array mics), and acoustic principles
  • Video Systems: Expertise in video conferencing platforms (e.g., Zoom Rooms, Microsoft Teams Rooms, Google Meet), video matrix switchers, scalers, encoders/decoders (e.g., H.264, NDI, Dante AV), projectors, LED walls, and various display technologies
  • Control Systems: Proficient in programming and troubleshooting major AV control systems (e.g., Q-SYS, Dante, Bi-AMP, Shure, Utelogy, Crestron). Q-Sys low code and full code  programming experience (e.g., Q-SYS Level 1 (Audio System Design), various Q-SYS Control and UCI (User Control Interface) certifications, a Certified Plugin Developer course) preferred
  • Networking: Strong understanding of IP networking principles, VLANs, QoS, and network security as they apply to AV systems. Experience with AV-over-IP technologies (e.g., Dante, AVB, SDVoE, NVX)
  • Unified Communications: In-depth knowledge of UC platforms and their integration with AV hardware
  • CAD/Design Software: Proficiency in reading and interpreting architectural drawings, AV schematics, and signal flow diagrams. Experience with design software (e.g., AutoCAD, Visio) is a plus
  • Cabling & Connectivity: Expert knowledge of various AV cabling types (e.g., CatX, Fiber Optic, HDMI, SDI) and termination standards

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience
  • Minimum of 7+ years of experience in the design, installation, and maintenance of complex professional AV systems
  • Experience with Zendesk and Jira ticketing and project management systems
  • Relevant industry certifications such as CTS-D (CTS Design) or CTS-I (CTS Installation) are highly preferred
  • Slack Admin & Developer certification, Monday.com admin certification, 365 admin and Teams admin experience
  • Experience working in a fast-paced corporate, broadcast, or live event environment
  • Ability to lift and move AV equipment as needed
  • Flexibility to work occasional evenings or weekends for events or critical system maintenance
  • Ability to travel regionally and internationally, as needed (5-10%)

MongoDB’s base salary range for this role is posted below. Compensation at the time of offer is unique to each candidate and based on a variety of factors such as skill set, experience, qualifications, and work location. Salary is one part of MongoDB’s total compensation and benefits package. Other benefits for eligible employees may include: equity, participation in the employee stock purchase program, flexible paid time off, 20 weeks fully-paid gender-neutral parental leave, fertility and adoption assistance, 401(k) plan, mental health counseling, access to transgender-inclusive health insurance coverage, and health benefits offerings. $101,000$198,000 USD
