Senior Associate, Broker Dealer Operations

at Coinbase Careers Page

United States (Remote)

Ready to be pushed beyond what you think you’re capable of?

At Coinbase, our mission is to increase economic freedom in the world. It’s a massive, ambitious opportunity that demands the best of us, every day, as we build the emerging onchain platform — and with it, the future global financial system.

To achieve our mission, we’re seeking a very specific candidate. We want someone who is passionate about our mission and who believes in the power of crypto and blockchain technology to update the financial system. We want someone who is eager to leave their mark on the world, who relishes the pressure and privilege of working with high caliber colleagues, and who actively seeks feedback to keep leveling up. We want someone who will run towards, not away from, solving the company’s hardest problems.

Our work culture is intense and isn’t for everyone. But if you want to build the future alongside others who excel in their disciplines and expect the same from you, there’s no better place to be.

While many roles at Coinbase are remote-first, we are not remote-only. In-person participation is required throughout the year. Team and company-wide offsites are held multiple times annually to foster collaboration, connection, and alignment. Attendance is expected and fully supported.

Do you thrive on solving complex operational challenges and ensuring flawless execution within regulated financial markets? We are seeking a highly-skilled Senior Associate to be a key member of our Broker Dealer Operations team, responsible for the integrity, efficiency, and optimization of our daily trading lifecycle.

This role is perfect for a meticulous, hands-on operator who is passionate about applying their deep broker-dealer knowledge to build scalable processes at the intersection of traditional finance and the cryptoeconomy. In this role, you will:

  • Perform daily processes including management of exceptions and resolutions, cash and position reconciliations, and promptly resolving breaks, fails, or discrepancies in trades
  • Review operational data and clearing/settlement information to ensure consistency with internal records and escalate issues as needed
  • Accurately set up and maintain customer accounts, including KYC/AML onboarding, account updates, and regulatory compliance
  • Support the processing of corporate actions to ensure entitlements are properly allocated and communicated to clients
  • Responsible for the preparation and submission of regulatory reports (e.g., CAT, TRACE) in collaboration with Compliance and Legal
  • Maintain and update internal controls, procedures, and policy documentation
  • Partner cross-functionally with Risk, Finance, Compliance, Product, and Engineering to support operational requirements for new product launches, process enhancements, and system changes
  • Identify opportunities for automation and process improvements to reduce manual work and mitigate risk
  • Design and implement the monitoring of operational and risk metrics, and preparing reporting and insights for leadership

What we look for in you (ie. job requirements):

  • 5+ years of financial services experience with at least 2+ years in broker-dealer operations; corporate actions experience strongly preferred
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. equities operational workflows, with familiarity in securities clearing, settlement, margin, and custody
  • Solid knowledge of broker-dealer regulatory requirements and reporting practices
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, prioritize issues, and resolve complex exceptions in a timely manner
  • Experience collaborating with third-party vendors or clearing/settlement partners
  • Exceptional organizational and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across teams
  • Track record of improving processes, enhancing controls, and supporting operational risk reduction

Nice to haves:

  • BA/BS degree in Finance, Economics, Business, Accounting, or related field
  • Experience at a fintech or in building operations functions in high-growth broker-dealer or trading environment
