Yext is seeking a highly skilled Senior Accounting Manager to join its growing and dynamic accounting team. This role will be responsible for overseeing the monthly close process, analytical and financial metrics, team management & development, and process improvements to enhance efficiency and strengthen the overall control environment.
Reporting directly to the Director, Corporate Accounting based in the U.S., this position will lead a team of five and serve as the India Accounting Team Lead. Key responsibilities include leading and owning aspects of the close process, such as cash, prepaids, fixed assets, publishers, accruals and capitalizable software, while driving process improvements and automation initiatives. The successful candidate must be a proven team leader and demonstrate knowledge of business and accounting concepts with strong attention to detail.
What You'll Do
- Lead and own month-end close process, including reviewing journal entries, variance analysis, and balance sheet/income statement reconciliations.
- Direct and manage day to day activities related to the close process, process improvements, automation and analysis of business results to support the company’s growth.
- Research and implement new accounting policies/procedures as well as acting as a technical resource to a variety of stakeholders.
- Review accounting transactions to ensure transactions and financial statements are properly reflected and in accordance with GAAP.
- Summarize complex transactions and present findings/implications to senior leadership
- Initiate and lead process improvement projects to increase efficiency and reduce cycle times
- Participate in developing and maintaining strong internal controls, ensuring quality controls over business transactions and reporting.
- Assist in managing external auditors for annual audit and quarterly audit requests
- Provide high-level customer service to finance and non-finance business partners.
- Collaborate cross-functionally to support company-wide initiatives and apply critical thinking skills to provide solutions that drive company performance.
- Perform ad hoc analysis and reviews and respond to inquiries from senior management.
- Coach, train and mentor a high-performing team, fostering professional growth and skill development.
What You'll Have
- Degree in Accounting
- 10+ years accounting experience (preferably with Big 4 background or Big 4/private mix & working in US Public Company)
- CPA, Chartered Accountant, or equivalent
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and proficiency with MS Office tools including MS Excel, Word and Powerpoint
- Strong knowledge and application of GAAP, and internal controls
- Leadership experience with a proven ability to manage, develop, and motivate teams
- Detail-oriented, process-driven, and strong analytical skills with a proactive approach to problem-solving
- Ability and willingness to work shift hours to support the U.S. team during critical close periods, often aligning with U.S. Eastern standard time working hours.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, evolving environment with minimal supervision
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across teams and present complex financial data to senior management
- Quick learner, intellectually curious, and excited by the challenge of mastering and improving complex systems
- Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently and work well under pressure in a deadline driven, results oriented environment
- Experience in finance/business process improvement initiatives, including an interest in exploring AI and automation technology to drive efficiencies
- Prior experience working in an international business environment
- Experience with NetSuite, Coupa, Workday, Floqast, and Tableau or equivalent systems is required
