The Impact You’ll Make
As the Senior Revenue Accounting Manager, you will lead Nextdoor’s revenue accounting function and partner closely with leaders across Sales, Sales Operations, Account Management, Accounts Receivable, Product, Engineering, Business Systems, and Finance & Strategy. You will play a critical role in ensuring accurate and timely revenue reporting while supporting the continued evolution of our revenue models.
You will own the full revenue close process and report revenue results directly to senior management and the Chief Financial Officer. This includes advertising revenue billed through invoices, self-serve advertising revenue processed through payment platforms, and partnership revenue streams. The role also includes ownership of quarterly commission calculations and accounting, as well as partnering with Technical Accounting to maintain and apply our revenue recognition policies under ASC 606.
Revenue at Nextdoor is a dynamic and rapidly evolving area of the business. Our Sales and Product teams regularly test new revenue streams, pricing models, and partnership structures as we grow the platform, which means Accounting must support innovation while maintaining strong financial reporting and controls. In this role, you will operate in a “build while flying” environment—developing practical solutions that allow the business to move quickly while steadily improving and scaling our revenue processes over time. The ideal candidate is comfortable navigating ambiguity, partnering closely across teams, and creatively designing processes that are both efficient today and adaptable for future growth. This role will manage a team of one and will report directly to the Corporate Controller.
You should be excited to show up every day with a team-player mindset and help wherever needed. Core responsibilities include:
- Own and maintain revenue accounting policies under ASC 606 in partnership with Technical Accounting
- Lead the monthly revenue close process, including journal entries, revenue analysis, and review of commission calculations
- Analyze billing and revenue activity to identify discrepancies, customer billing issues, or operational risks and ensure timely resolution
- Serve as Accounting’s lead partner on cross-functional initiatives with Product, Engineering, and Business Systems, particularly related to our self-serve payments business
- Support new product launches, customer migrations, and related reporting and revenue processes
- Design scalable reconciliation processes and improve ledger maintenance and financial accuracy
- Partner with Finance & Strategy to provide insight into revenue trends and support forecasting
- Prepare and review revenue-related materials for external audits and SOX compliance
- Identify process inefficiencies and drive improvements through automation, systems enhancements, and better workflows
Current areas of focus and challenge for this role include:
- Leveraging automation and AI – identifying opportunities to streamline reconciliations, journal entries, and variance analyses using automation and emerging tools, freeing up the team for higher-value work
- Scaling new revenue streams – supporting product and go-to-market teams as we grow self-serve, subscription, and partnership revenue and ensure our billing and revenue pipelines keep pace
- Strengthening SOX while reducing manual work – refining reconciliations, IPE, and review controls to maintain a strong control environment while pushing toward automation and standardization
- Improving data quality and reporting – partnering with Business Systems and Engineering to enhance the completeness, accuracy, and usability of revenue and billing data for accounting, forecasting, and analytics
