Blend is looking for a motivated attorney who enjoys solving complex problems to join our Legal & Compliance team. As Product and Regulatory Counsel, you will advise on legal and regulatory risks relating to the company’s product development lifecycle. This role is a phenomenal opportunity to be part of a forward-thinking legal and compliance team and to have a direct impact on business initiatives and outcomes.  We also encourage members of our team to explore their interests and work on projects that may be unfamiliar to them, as we believe that hands-on experience is the best way to develop new skills.

Our team is responsible for navigating a publicly traded fintech company with broad market impact through an evolving and complex financial legal and regulatory environment.  Furthermore, our team’s work enables our internal partners to build, refine, and sell our innovative business-to-business SaaS platform and other groundbreaking technology initiatives with a focus on speed and quality execution.

** Candidates based out of Raleigh, North Carolina are preferred for this role and will be required to be in our North Hills office 4x a week **

How you'll contribute:

  • Partner closely with engineering, product and design teams on product development in the lending and consumer banking space, advising on applicable legal and regulatory requirements and implications of product/feature builds
  • Evaluate proposed partnerships and provide legal guidance regarding related privacy and regulatory risks and mitigations
  • Anticipate and identify legal and regulatory risks, and propose creative and effective solutions to address those risks
  • Remain up-to-date on consumer financial services and privacy laws and regulations to ensure an ongoing ability to provide sound regulatory advice
  • Partner with the broader Legal & Compliance team to share information about regulatory changes and product development to facilitate support across the team
  • Engage directly with clients’ legal and compliance teams regarding Blend’s products, features, functionality, configurations and integrations

Who you are:

  • 5+ years of combined, relevant experience in in-house legal departments, law firms, and/or governmental agencies
  • Knowledge and application of consumer protection laws -- including TILA, TISA, RESPA, ECOA, FCRA, HMDA, GLBA, and UDAAP -- and their implementing regulations
  • Highly disciplined, able to make independent decisions and work with limited supervision while excelling in a fast-paced, dynamic and demanding environment
  • Inquisitive, engaged and proactive in identifying legal issues and risks and proposing creative and effective solutions
  • Ability to work independently and adaptively, anticipate and mitigate friction points, and take the initiative to drive projects to completion
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to present sophisticated issues in a clear and persuasive manner
  • Strong interpersonal and influencing skills
  • Engaged and self-motivated team player eager to dig into consumer finance and privacy laws and regulations, learn complex and evolving products, and pitch in wherever necessary
  • JD and a member of a state bar.   

Bonus Points!

  • Experience relating to SaaS-centric issues that include privacy and security
  • In-house product counsel experience at a financial services company, cloud technology vendor or fintech company

To comply with local legislation, as well as to provide greater transparency to candidates, we share base pay ranges on all job postings regardless of desired hiring location. Final base pay offer amounts will vary depending on multiple factors, including but not limited to function, level, geographic location, job related knowledge, skills, and experience. Beyond base pay, Blends benefits and perks are described below.

Compensation:

  • Base Salary Range: $150,000 – $230,000 (This applies to full time hires. Final offer determined by multiple factors, including but not limited to function, level, geographic location, job related knowledge, skills, and experience.)
  • Bonus (if applicable): Eligibility is contingent upon both company performance against established goals and achievement of individual performance objectives.
  • Equity : Meaningful Restricted Stock Units in public company stock (NYSE: BLND) so you share in Blend’s long-term growth and success.
