ABOUT RETOOL
Nearly every company in the world runs on custom software: Gartner estimates that up to 50% of all code is written for internal use. This is the operational software for refunding orders, underwriting loans, onboarding employees, analyzing transactions, and providing customer support. But most companies don’t have adequate resources to properly invest in these tools, leading to a lot of old and clunky internal software or, even worse, users still stuck in manual and spreadsheet flows.
At Retool, we’re on a mission to bring good software to everyone. We’re building a new type of development platform that combines the benefits of traditional software development with a drag-and-drop UI editor and AI, making it dramatically faster to build internal tools. We believe that the future of software development lies in abstracting away the tedious and repetitive tasks developers waste time on, while creating reusable components that act as a force multiplier for future developers and projects. The result is not just productivity, but good software by default. And that’s a mission worth striving for.
Today, our customers span from small startups building their first operational tools to Fortune 500 companies building mission-critical apps for thousands of users across their business. Interested in joining us? Let us know!
Retool’s Built-In Resources—like Database, Storage, Email, AI, and more—give builders instant access to everything they need to build full applications, workflows, and agents, without waiting on setup or integration. That means users can go from idea to working product in just minutes.
You’ll be the architect behind Retool’s core building blocks, turning complex infrastructure into instant, no-setup magic for builders. You’ll own things like strategy, roadmap, product evolution, and also explore potential monetization paths (such as usage-based overages) as part of the longer-term strategy. This role sits at the intersection of platform strategy and user experience. You’ll decide how each built-in—whether Database, Storage, or AI—works on its own, when it should connect tightly with other resources, and how all of them fit together to make the Retool platform seamless and powerful for builders.
You’ll work closely with a dedicated engineering pod within the Product Platform team and collaborate across the entire product surface, since built-ins touch almost every part of Retool. You’ll also partner with design and product marketing to shape user experience and positioning, and with leadership to align built-ins to Retool’s broader platform and App Engine strategy.
We’re a small, high-impact team that thrives at the intersection of infrastructure and usability. You’ll be a core part of shaping how new builders experience Retool out of the box, in addition to supporting experienced users building more powerful and complex internal tools.
