At Databricks, our mission is to simplify and democratize data and AI so that every organization can put them to work. Design is central to that mission. We turn powerful, complex technology into clear, accessible, and trustworthy experiences that open advanced capabilities to all kinds of users.
About the team:
This role is a unique opportunity to design at the intersection of how customers navigate the platform, discover data and AI products, and govern them at scale. These journeys span multiple product areas and are not owned by a single team. You’ll work across those boundaries to create experiences that feel cohesive to customers, collaborating closely with design, engineering, and product partners across Databricks.
The impact you will have:
- Design intuitive navigation, browsing and discovery experiences that help users find and understand data and AI products
- Create experiences that work for a spectrum of personas, from business users to data stewards, with consistency across discovery, catalog, and browse
- Bring a high level of craft to file-browsing trees, lists/tables, grids/galleries, facets/tags/smart folders and other UI patterns that can unlock data browsing and discovery for our customers
- Use information design, iconography, and visual hierarchy to make concepts like trust, relevance, and data quality easy to understand
- Collaborate with product, engineering, and research to ship high-impact improvements that unify navigation and discovery within Databricks
- Strengthen both your own work and the team’s practice by seeking and providing design feedback
What we look for:
- Minimum of 3 years of product design work experience
- Strong product design craft and technical acumen, with a focus on clarity and simplicity
- Clear communicator who can explain and document the behavior of the components and patterns they design
- Ability to turn complex metadata into clear cues that communicate trust, freshness, and suitability
- Experience gathering feedback from diverse user groups (e.g. administrators, engineers, business users) and collaborating with user researchers
- Proven ability to ship customer-facing products with measurable impact
- Portfolio showcasing the end-to-end design process, from inception to production
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree or equivalent, ideally with specialization in HCI, interaction design, computer science, or related disciplines
- Experience prototyping in code or working in front-end frameworks preferred
