Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate on design strategy within specific product areas under the guidance of senior designers or product leads, helping shape and adopt platform patterns other teams can leverage.
- Work with moderate autonomy in environments with some ambiguity, escalating complex issues when necessary. Help establish simple frameworks that advance design work while aligning product needs with platform guidelines.
- Participate in cross-team initiatives, partnering with other squads to ensure consistent user experiences and supporting communication and coordination across teams.
- Apply quality standards to your design work, balancing creativity, usability, and accessibility. Review and improve design contributions within your team under supervision.
- Make tactical design decisions that impact short- to medium-term product goals, using data and feedback to optimize outcomes and monitoring relevant metrics with the team.
- Contribute basic, reusable design patterns within your product scope to ensure scalable, maintainable solutions.
- Support junior designers by offering constructive feedback and participating in workshops or learning sessions led by senior designers.
- Present design progress, concepts, and proposals to immediate leaders and partner teams, communicating ideas clearly and aligning expectations effectively.
Must-have Skills
- 2–4 years of product design experience with demonstrated ownership of product areas or features.
- A portfolio showcasing strategic thinking applied to real projects with measurable product impact.
- Experience collaborating with multiple stakeholders and managing design priorities at an area or functional level.
- Basic understanding of platform-level thinking and contributions to reusable design patterns.
- Proficiency with modern design tools such as Figma and collaborative documentation workflows.
- Knowledge of foundational accessibility and inclusive design standards.
- Ability to navigate ambiguity and make informed decisions with appropriate guidance.
- Strong communication skills to advocate for design within the team and across related stakeholders.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Design, HCI, or a related discipline.
Nice-to-have:
- AI Tooling Proficiency: Leverage one or more AI tools to optimize and augment day-to-day work, including drafting, analysis, research, or process automation. Provide recommendations on effective AI use and identify opportunities to streamline workflows.
- Experience in industries such as media, publishing, or enterprise services.
- Experience designing for both B2B and B2C audiences.
- Participation in small-scale design operations or governance initiatives.
- Familiarity with emerging technologies (AI/ML) and their design implications.
- Involvement in design events, communities, or publications.
- Experience working with international or multicultural product audiences.
