Webflow is looking for a Principal Engineer in Argentina to help establish one of our first international engineering hubs. This is a high-impact opportunity to shape Webflow’s technical foundation, culture, and long-term presence in the region. You will work closely with our CTO to define architectural direction, lead key engineering initiatives, and model the standard of excellence for the organization we are building.

Our Argentina hub will play a key role in how we scale product development globally. As one of the first principal engineers on the ground, you will help define what “great” looks like across engineering practices, architecture, hiring standards, and team culture. This role combines deep technical ownership with the creative freedom of an early-stage startup environment.

This role is also eligible to participate in Webflow's company-wide bonus program. Target amounts are a percentage of base salary and vary by career level. Payouts are based on company performance against established financial and operational goals.

As a Principal Engineer, you’ll … 

  • Write and ship production code with high standards for quality and clarity.
  • Make well-reasoned architectural decisions, documenting criteria, constraints, and tradeoffs.
  • Deeply understand and improve our web platform foundation, including browser rendering, performance, networking, and security.
  • Drive platform research and innovation by exploring new frameworks, tools, and methods.
  • Mentor engineers and raise technical standards across readability, reliability, and performance.
  • Communicate clearly in technical discussions, framing problems precisely and connecting decisions to business outcomes.
  • Help shape our hub’s growth by refining interview loops, onboarding, and career paths while building an inclusive and collaborative culture.

In addition to the responsibilities outlined above, at Webflow we will support you in identifying where your interests and development opportunities lie and we'll help you incorporate them into your role.

About you 

You’ll thrive as a Principal Engineer if you have…

  • Strong hands-on experience building modern web platforms and scalable systems with TypeScript, Node.js, and React.
  • Deep understanding of browser internals and the Web Platform, including performance, rendering, and security.
  • Experience working with visual development tools, design systems, or domain-specific languages.
  • Prior experience launching or leading a new engineering hub or site.
  • Expertise with Next.js, Remix, Tailwind CSS, or edge and runtime performance optimization.
  • Proven experience designing and scaling APIs, services, and distributed systems.
  • Solid background in database design and optimization for both SQL and NoSQL systems (MongoDB experience is a plus).
  • Familiarity with modern development practices such as monorepos, CI/CD, Docker, Kubernetes, and cloud infrastructure.
  • The ability to clearly explain and defend technical decisions using structured reasoning and awareness of tradeoffs.
  • A track record of mentorship and technical leadership across multiple teams.
  • Excellent written and spoken English, with the ability to communicate clearly in detailed technical discussions.
  • A curious and growth-oriented mindset, including interest in AI and emerging technologies that drive innovation and impact.

Minimum requirement:

  • Business-level fluency to read, write and speak in English
