We are seeking a strategic and highly experienced Senior DevOps Engineer to manage, maintain, and optimise our enterprise-wide DevOps ecosystem. This pivotal role requires deep expertise in building, scaling, and supporting mission-critical HashiCorp Vault infrastructure. The successful candidate will also bring proven experience in administering core CI/CD and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools, including GitHub, Artifactory, Jenkins, and Terraform Enterprise. You will be the subject matter expert for secrets management, driving efficiency, ensuring platform stability, and governing security across our critical development tool stack.
Key Responsibilities
HashiCorp Vault Architecture & Administration
- Infrastructure Management: Design, build, and maintain scalable, highly available HashiCorp Vault clusters in AWS, including the underlying infrastructure, storage backends, and networking.
- Automation & IaC: Automate the deployment, configuration, and management of Vault infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code (e.g., Terraform).
- Disaster Recovery: Develop, implement, and test robust disaster recovery, backup, and restore strategies for Vault to ensure business continuity.
- Platform Health: Proactively monitor the health and performance of the Vault environment, perform version upgrades, and implement corrective actions to ensure stability and uptime.
- Subject Matter Expertise: Act as the primary technical owner for Vault, providing expert-level support, guidance, and architectural best practices to engineering teams.
DevOps Tools Administration & Support
- GitHub Enterprise Administration: Administer and maintain the GitHub Enterprise environment (Cloud and Server), including security, access control, and automation using GitHub Advanced Security (GHAS) and APIs.
- Artifactory (JFrog): Manage Artifactory instances, including repository configuration, high availability, and integration with JFrog Xray for vulnerability scanning.
- HashiCorp Terraform Enterprise/Cloud: Manage the Terraform Enterprise server and workspaces, including state management, access controls, and policy enforcement via Sentinel.
- Jenkins: Administer Jenkins controllers and agents, manage plugins, and optimise pipeline performance to ensure platform stability.
General Duties
- Troubleshooting: Serve as the Tier 3 escalation point for complex issues spanning the entire DevOps toolchain.
- Collaboration: Work closely with Platform Engineering, development, security, and infrastructure teams to integrate tools, define standards, and improve the developer experience.
- Documentation: Create and maintain comprehensive technical documentation, architectural diagrams, and operational runbooks.
Required Skills
Experience
- Minimum 10 years of experience in administering enterprise-level DevOps platforms.
- Proven, hands-on experience designing, building, scaling, and maintaining HashiCorp Vault clusters in a production environment.
- Hands-on experience supporting enterprise CI/CD and IaC tooling (e.g., GitHub Enterprise, Artifactory, Jenkins, Terraform Enterprise) in addition to primary Vault ownership.
Technical Knowledge
- Deep expertise in HashiCorp Vault architecture, including its core components, secret engines, and authentication methods.
- Strong proficiency in scripting and automation (Python, Bash, HCL).
- Extensive experience with Infrastructure as Code, particularly Terraform, for managing cloud resources and Vault configuration.
- Experience operating workloads on AWS (including EC2-based services) and Kubernetes, with practical use of containers where applicable.
- Strong background in Linux/Unix system administration.
