The Principal Product Manager, People Technologies Opportunity

Okta is seeking a Principal Product Manager, People Technologies to join its TDI (Technology, Data and Intelligence) Organization, reporting to the Director of People Technologies. This strategic role focuses on driving the evolution of Workday HR capabilities while ensuring an exceptional experience for internal users across the company. The ideal candidate will guide the People Technology Delivery team, managing product strategy, roadmaps, and execution across a range of Workday modules including Core HR, Compensation, Benefits, Absence, Time Tracking, Payroll, Advanced Compensation, and Talent Management, in addition to apps such as Greenhouse, Cornerstone, and others.  This is an exciting opportunity to influence the future of digital HR at scale, helping to deliver a modern, integrated employee experience powered by Workday/CSOD/Greenhouse.  If you have a passion for problem-solving, automation, and transformation, we’d love to hear from you!

What you’ll be doing 

  • Define and own the People Technology product vision and strategic roadmap, partnering with executive leadership to prioritize initiatives that deliver maximum business value and ROI.
  • Engage with stakeholders to understand business challenges and translate enterprise needs into scalable, secure, and reusable platform capabilities.
  • Drive end-to-end process standardization and design clear process flows across all People Technology modules, particularly Workday, to ensure efficiency.
  • Establish and enforce data governance and security best practices in partnership with Security & Compliance teams to ensure data accuracy and protection.
  • Lead product discovery, experimentation, and delivery cycles, establishing success metrics and prioritizing issues to ensure the adoption and value of new features.
  • Manage the seamless adoption of system patch releases, including all review, testing, and implementation to enhance system capabilities.
  • Lead platform-level change management, including collaboration with HR and training teams, to ensure smooth transitions and high user adoption.
  • Establish a consistent feedback loop with support teams and users to drive continuous system optimization and satisfaction.

What you’ll bring to the role

  • Product & People Tech Expertise: 12+ years driving Workday HCM and ecosystem solutions, integrating with platforms like Greenhouse, ServiceNow, ADP, and benefits providers, with focus on product value and user experience.
  • Product Leadership & Roadmap Ownership: Proven experience defining and executing product roadmaps for HCM initiatives, aligning cross-functional teams across HR, Legal, Finance, and technology partners.
  • Strategic Vision & Systems Thinking: Strong ability to identify opportunities, optimize processes, and deliver long-term organizational impact while balancing risk and speed.
  • Technical & Product Strategy Partner: Collaborates with engineers to shape architecture, define requirements, and influence technical strategy that aligns with business goals.
  • Workday Optimization & Product Impact: Implements Workday configurations and best practices to enhance functionality, adoption, and operational efficiency, with a product management mindset.
  • Stakeholder Influence & Communication: Excels in storytelling, presenting product vision, and translating complex technical concepts to executives and diverse stakeholders.
  • Team Enablement & Mentorship: Mentors junior members and empowers cross-functional teams to act autonomously, leading initiatives through influence rather than formal authority.
  • Certifications & Transformation Leadership: Workday HCM Pro certified (preferred) with a track record of driving organizational change and delivering measurable outcomes through product-focused technology initiatives.

Below is the annual base salary range for candidates located in San Francisco Bay Area. Your actual base salary will depend on factors such as your skills, qualifications, experience, and work location. In addition, Okta offers equity (where applicable), bonus, and benefits, including health, dental and vision insurance, 401(k), flexible spending account, and paid leave (including PTO and parental leave) in accordance with our applicable plans and policies. The annual base salary range for this position for candidates located in the San Francisco Bay area is between:
$210,000$289,300 USD
