About the role

HackerRank’s Community platform is one of the largest developer platforms in the world  where millions of developers grow, upskill, and get discovered by top companies. As Principal PM for Community, you will own the product vision and roadmap for a platform that sits at the intersection of developer growth and next-generation hiring. This is a high-impact, high-ownership role where you’ll set the strategic direction for how developers engage, level up, and get hired at scale.

What you’ll do

  • Own the 0-1 journey. Define the vision, execute aggressively, and drive adoption.
  • Define and drive the multi-year product vision for the Community platform, balancing developer experience, growth, and monetisation objectives.
  • Own the full product roadmap from discovery and prioritisation through delivery and post-launch iteration across engagement loops, learning journeys, and developer profiles.
  • Partner with engineering, design, and data science to build AI-powered features that personalise developer growth and surface the right opportunities at the right time.
    Use quantitative and qualitative signals, experimental results, user research, and cohort analysis to make product decisions and communicate them clearly to senior leadership.
  • Mentor and elevate PMs across the broader product organisation; set the standard for rigour, craft, and developer empathy.

Who you are

  • Overall 7+ yrs experience, 5+ years of PM experience
  • Deep domain knowledge in developer tools, developer communities, or B2C/B2B2C platforms with large user bases (1M+ users).
  • Proven track record of shipping 0-to-1 products and evolving mature platforms. You know when to build from scratch and when to iterate.
  • Exceptionally strong data fluency: you run experiments confidently, interpret funnel metrics and cohort data, and push back on misleading dashboards.
  • Outstanding cross-functional influencer: you align engineering, design, GTM, and executive stakeholders without formal authority.
  • Technical depth sufficient to engage meaningfully with engineers on architecture tradeoffs, API design, and AI/ML product decisions.

Even better if you have

  • Hands-on background as a software engineer, you’ve written production code and understand how developers actually think and work.
  • Experience building products for developer communities or coding platforms (e.g. GitHub, Stack Overflow, LeetCode, Codeforces).
  • Familiarity with developer hiring workflows and how talent platforms bridge community engagement with recruitment outcomes.

You will thrive in this role if

  • You've built things from scratch as a founder or co-founder and know what real ownership looks like because you've lived every chapter of it.
  • Comfortable operating with high autonomy and setting direction in ambiguous, fast-moving environments without waiting for a playbook.
  • Hold a high bar for product quality and developer experience, and notice when something is off and push to fix it.
