Principal Enterprise AI Engineer
at Riot Games
Los Angeles, United States
Riot’s Enterprise Technology organization ensures Rioters have what they need to unlock their full potential: from secure, compliant systems to efficient business platforms that keep the company running smoothly. The next frontier is AI and its new capabilities.
We aspire to make it better to be a Rioter by empowering Enterprise functions to create seamless experiences via improved processes, systems and data. That’s where you come in. As Principal, Enterprise AI Engineer, you will drive strategy and execution for traditional, generative and agentic AI capabilities across Enterprise functions, shaping the AI platform that will power thousands of Rioters. With the support from teams, this includes standing up and managing the Enterprise AI platform, ensuring data governance and quality are in place, and delivering AI-enabled solutions that streamline workflows across Finance, People, IT, Legal, Security, Workplace Experience, and beyond.
The ideal candidate blends strategic product thinking with hands-on technical expertise. You’ll act as both the visionary, shaping the AI roadmap for Enterprise, and the builder, ensuring the platform is robust, secure, and integrated.
You’ll partner with Enterprise leaders, system owners, and data teams to bring Enterprise’s AI ambition to life: Reimagining how Enterprise works so that every Rioter can spend more time unlocking the future of play.
The role will report to the Senior Manager, Enterprise Data.
Responsibilities:
- Define and execute the long-term Enterprise AI strategy and roadmap, aligned with business needs and Riot’s technology direction.
- Spearhead the design and management of Enterprise’s agentic AI orchestration and management platform, ensuring scalability, security, and strong governance.
- Partner with Enterprise functions (Finance, People, Legal, Workplace Experience, IT, InfoSec) to identify, prioritize, and deliver high-value AI capabilities including agents, automations and copilots, from experimentation to scaling.
- In partnership with Enterprise Data and application owners, establish and enforce AI data governance practices, including data quality, observability, lineage, and bias monitoring.
- Serve as the AI product owner for Enterprise, balancing vendor OOB features with Riot-built agentic capabilities, and ensuring cross-functional consistency, adoption, and sustainable change through training, enablement, and governance.
- Build, influence, and lead a cross-functional Community of Practice around AI adoption in Enterprise, including training and enablement efforts across functions to ensure adoption and consistency.
- Define reference architectures for RAG/agents (indexing, vector stores, caching) with system owners.
- Stay on top of emerging AI technologies and evaluate their application to Riot’s business problems.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field (or equivalent experience delivering enterprise technology solutions).
- 12+ years of experience in enterprise applications or platform engineering spaces, including process optimization and automation initiatives.
- Proven track record of delivering AI (traditional or generative) or advanced automation solutions at scale.
- Strong technical knowledge of enterprise platforms (e.g., Workday, ServiceNow, Coupa, Concur, Oracle, IronClad) and the respective integration options.
- Experience acting as both strategic thinker (roadmap, prioritization, stakeholder alignment) and hands-on contributor (prototyping, configuring, integrating).
- Deep understanding of knowledge management, data governance, quality, and architecture in enterprise contexts.
- Experience with LLM platforms (OpenAI ChatGPT, Anthropic Claude, Google Gemini) and their enterprise applications.
- Strong understanding of ticketing/work management systems (ServiceNow, Jira) and how to integrate AI-driven workloads with them.
- Strong communication skills, being able to translate AI concepts for technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Desired Qualifications:
- Familiarity with frameworks for agent development (LangChain, Pydantic AI, or similar) and orchestration platforms (LangGraph, CrewAI, Microsoft AutoGen, Vertex AI Agent Builder, Aisera, or similar).
- Experience building or integrating enterprise knowledge search platforms (e.g., federated search, vector DBs, retrieval-augmented generation).
- Experience with integration platforms (Workato, MuleSoft, Dell Boomi).
- Knowledge of TRiSM (Trust, Risk, and Security Management) frameworks for AI.
- Experience leading change in complex, global organizations.
- Experience with agile principles, software development and testing methodologies (waterfall, Scrum, rapid prototyping, XP, DevOps etc).
- Experience in highly regulated industries, including data governance, compliance, and audit requirements.
