About the team + role
The Market Operations team at Robinhood is responsible for traditional middle office brokerage operations. Our mission is to deliver an excellent end-customer experience and mitigate firm risk while supporting cutting-edge brokerage and financial products. We’re looking for a specialist to help grow our Margin team.
As a Market Operations Specialist (Margin), you’ll be responsible for account level risk management and operations. You’ll perform essential daily duties to keep our margin business running smoothly, including analyzing and resolving various types of margin calls, communicating with customers via phone or email to resolve escalated issues, reviewing risk-based alerts, testing the functionality of our margin product, and reviewing our outbound communications and educational materials. Additionally, you’ll be expected to help scale our processes, tools, documentation, and workflows, and be a key member in helping us grow our team. Along with the broader Market Operations team, you’ll work cross-functionally with our clearing, product, compliance, and engineering teams to improve operational efficiency and maintain our high-quality standards.
The role is based in our Denver, CO, Chicago, IL, Lake Mary, FL, and New York, NY office(s), with in-person attendance expected at least 3 days per week.
What you’ll do
- Review daily margin calls and execute the firm's margin sellout process.
- Research, prioritize, and resolve margin-related escalations in a timely and compliant manner.
- Communicate with customers in a live support environment through email or phone support, providing clear and professional guidance.
- Mitigate firm and customer risk through intraday alert monitoring and proactively resolve account issues.
- Partner with clearing, engineering, and product teams to drive efficiency and continuously improve the margin offering.
- Drive testing of new products and conduct routine testing for existing processes to ensure stability and compliance.
- Work with international teams to onboard and support the margin product, aligning on standards and operational readiness.
- Review margin eligibility and take appropriate action to limit customers who no longer meet established criteria.
- Assist with negotiated and promotional interest rate implementation, as well as ongoing interest monitoring.
- Balance recovery efforts across multiple entities to ensure accurate and timely reconciliation.
- Keep detailed records in accordance with standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Contribute to SOP and Help Center article updates and improvements to maintain accuracy and clarity.
- Ensure adherence to firm procedures and industry regulations at all times.
- Be a subject matter expert during critical system outages or issues, helping coordinate timely resolution.
- Be on call on a weekly rotation basis and remain available to work outside standard business hours, including early mornings or late evenings as needed.
- Work collaboratively as a team to train one another, share knowledge, and develop collective expertise.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement and efficiency, always seeking ways to streamline processes and enhance performance.
- Leverage AI-driven initiatives to improve workflows, automate routine tasks, and enhance operational accuracy.
What you bring
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience
- FINRA Series 7 and Series 63
- Understanding of equities and option strategies
- Demonstrated proficiency with technology and data-driven tools, with a forward-thinking approach to automation and process improvement.
- Strong analytical skills, including critical thinking and data analysis. Comfortable leveraging digital tools to solve complex problems and drive efficiency.
- Familiarity with Regulation T and Rule 4210
- Exceptional attention to detail and strong problem solving skills
- Strong knowledge of Robinhood's products
- Experience with retail client margin calls
- Bonus: FINRA Series 24 and Series 4

In addition to the base pay range listed below, this role is also eligible for bonus opportunities + equity + benefits.
Base pay for the successful applicant will depend on a variety of job-related factors, which may include education, training, experience, location, business needs, or market demands. The expected base pay range for this role is based on the location where the work will be performed and is aligned to one of 3 compensation zones. For other locations not listed, compensation can be discussed with your recruiter during the interview process.
