About the role

We're looking for a curious, audience-focused documentation manager with experience leading a mid-sized team. You will recognize challenges before they become problems and can hold on to multiple projects at the same time. You are eager to support and grow existing team members into their best selves. You are also extremely well-versed in single-sourcing, content reuse, docs-as-code, AI-as-docs, and Agile methodologies and can identify opportunities where documentation can quickly resolve confusion for your audiences.

You will oversee the project lifecycle, style guide, tone of voice, information architecture, and all other aspects of the technical documentation ecosystem. This includes docs-as-code content for external audiences and internal-only wiki-based content. You will also own the processes and ideology of how the tech docs team will evolve over time. You will collaborate with Engineering, Technical Program Management, Product Design, and Product teams to identify documentation projects for the team, reporting on each documentation project to interested team members, and maintaining the velocity for the entire documentation team.

  • Oversee all in-flight documentation projects and prepare for next quarter's projects.
  • Review, understands, and comments upon documentation plans to define the scope and timelines for all documentation projects.
  • Support and guide technical writers as they complete their projects.
  • Engage in two-way communication with writers to understand and support their daily work.
  • Engage with multiple team members and documentation partners to envision the documentation roadmap and resolve issues as they arise.
  • Gather, analyzes, and reports on documentation viewing metrics.
  • Be a documentation advocate and evangelist.
  • Provide an overarching view of the technology for internal and external audiences.
  • Participate in reciprocal review cycles where all parties are comfortable giving and receiving feedback.
  • Be the editor-in-chief of all documentation produced by the Tech Docs team.
  • Engage in formatting, editing, and quality assurance on own work and the work of others.
  • Ensure that consistency, clarity, and quality are a part of their daily lifestyle.

In the role of Manager, Technical Documentation, you will report to the VP, Technical Program Management. We are considering applicants for the location of San Francisco, CA (in office three days a week).
