Join the team as Twilio’s next Safety & Security Headquarters Lead responsible for strengthening the foundation and overall security posture of Twilio’s Physical Security program to enable the safety and security of our people and assets. This team is evolving to meet the needs of an open work environment which creates unique challenges.
About the job
This position is needed to oversee and manage all aspects of safety and security operations for Twilio’s headquarters location. This includes developing and implementing security strategies, managing security processes, conducting risk assessments, and ensuring compliance with safety and security policies and regulations. This means bringing in strong experience in headquarters security management, strategic planning, physical security technology, coordination of security protocols for a variety of high-profile events. This role requires a strong ability to effectively communicate and collaborate effectively across multiple stakeholders, with an emphasis on providing excellent customer service.
Responsibilities
In this role, you’ll:
- Risk Assessment and Security Planning - 20%
- Continually , assess physical security design requirements and compliance with expected physical and environmental protection standards
- Conduct thorough risk assessments and regularly update safety and security protocols to mitigate potential threats to executives and company assets
- Create and execute comprehensive security plans
- Prepare and deliver regular reports to senior management detailing security initiatives, incidents, risk assessments, and recommended actions for improvement.
- Develop and direct team exercises to enhance preparedness and identify training opportunities and/or security vulnerabilities
- Assist Security Technology Team with on-site security system project planning and oversight
- Health, Safety and Emergency Preparedness - 20%
- Update and test emergency response plans and crisis management protocols, ensuring the safety and well-being of employees and guests during critical incidents.
- Ensure Headquarters location is in full compliance with all Health and Safety requirements
- Assist with planning of building evacuations, tabletops, emergency exercises in coordination with regional security manager
- Collaborate with team members and stakeholders to develop emergency response plans to ensure a safe and secure workplace and event environment
- Event Security Support - 20%
- Oversee and/or directly participate in developing and implementing security plans and guidance in support of company events
- Lead and/or support on-the-ground implementation of security plans for events at the San Francisco Headquarters and other locations
- Provide backstop support to the event security program
- Travel Security Support - 15%
- Oversee and/or directly participate in developing and implementing travel security logistics in support of company events and business travel
- Provide backstop support to the corporate travel security program
- Executive Protection Support - 10%
- Support the Executive Protection program during high-visibility events
- Provide backstop support to the Executive Protection program
- Stakeholder Coordination - 15%
- Coordinate closely with internal stakeholders such as HR, Legal, Risk, and Compliance to ensure alignment with company policies and procedures
- Provide guidance to internal stakeholders responsible for functions related to security project management
- Stay informed on the latest security trends, technologies, industry best practices, and emerging threats to continuously enhance the organization’s security measures
- Establish and maintain relationships with local law enforcement, property management, and other strategic external relationships in order to share information and increase situational awareness
- Remain on-call and available to manage security-related emergencies
- Perform other duties as assigned

Required:
- 5+ years of experience in the physical security discipline
- In-depth knowledge of security protocols, risk assessment methodologies, and risk management strategies
- Experience developing physical security plans and measures for corporate events
- Experience conceptualizing and executing on numerous initiatives and balancing competing priorities
- Awareness of health, safety, and emergency evacuation protocols and requirements, specifically within California
- High ethical standards with proven ability to handle highly confidential and sensitive information; excellent judgment, discretion, and diplomacy
- A ‘customer-focused’ mindset with strong business acumen and strategic influence
- Strong collaboration and communication skills with the ability to effectively partner with a diverse team and cross-functional departments to find common ground and viable solutions to complex problems in a highly collaborative environment
- Capacity to make critical decisions in high-pressure situations
- Proven crisis management experience and ability to lead during critical incidents
- Demonstrated discretion, professionalism, and confidentiality when handling sensitive information and high-profile individuals
- Other duties and responsibilities as assigned
Desired
- Existing network of security and law enforcement professionals within the San Francisco area
- Experience working within a global organization with a workforce that includes remote employees
- Understanding of Cybersecurity Framework (NIST CSF), ISO27001, and critical infrastructure protection requirements, physical security technology controls, innovative mitigation tactics, and applicable regulatory requirements
- Knowledge of executive protection practices and strategies and supporting protective service operations of the senior executives, and visiting VIPs.
- Experience with sourcing and procurement models, tools, processes, and policies in a program/project/contract manager role
- Experience with project and program management
- Experience with creating and delivering security-focused trainings and tabletops
- Fluency in Google Suite, Confluence, Tableau, Splunk, ServiceNow
Location
- This role will be based in our San Francisco, California office.
Travel
We prioritize connection and opportunities to build relationships with our customers and each other. For this role, approximately 20% travel is anticipated to help you participate in project or team in-person meetings to help you connect in a meaningful way.

Compensation
The estimated pay ranges for this role are as follows:
- Based in the San Francisco Bay area, California: $122,600 - $153,200.
- This role may be eligible to participate in Twilio’s equity plan and corporate bonus plan. All roles are generally eligible for the following benefits: health care insurance, 401(k) retirement account, paid sick time, paid personal time off, paid parental leave.
The successful candidate’s starting salary will be determined based on permissible, non-discriminatory factors such as skills, experience, and geographic location.
