The Growth Platform team is looking for an Engineering Manager to lead two of our teams:
- The Machine Learning team’s mission is to optimize user experience and retention
- The Localization Platform team owns all of localization related engineering for the entire company. It combines full-stack engineering with machine learning.
What you’ll do:
- Lead the machine learning team to design, ship, and iterate on models for user targeting and personalization that drives engagement and retention.
- Own the technical direction of the localization platform, ensuring a reliable, scalable foundation that powers Pinterest in 40+ languages and unlocks new international growth opportunities.
- Apply machine learning within localization and growth use cases, such as audience expansion, lifecycle optimization, and machine‑translation–driven experiences for global Pinners.
- Manage and mentor fullstack and machine learning engineers, providing clear expectations, regular feedback, and growth opportunities to develop strong technical and leadership skills.
- Partner closely with cross‑functional teams (Product, Data Science, Design, PMM, and other engineering teams) to define roadmaps, run experiments, and deliver high‑impact growth and internationalization outcomes.
What we’re looking for:
- 8+ years of industry experience building and operating production systems at scale.
- 3+ years of experience leading machine learning teams, with a strong hands‑on background in Python and PyTorch.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Proficiency with data processing and distributed systems such as Spark or Hadoop.
- Experience with cloud infrastructure on AWS and containerized services using Docker and Kubernetes.
- Ability to design and operate large‑scale ML pipelines for training, evaluation and deployment, including high‑QPS, low‑latency model serving.
- Strong background in recommendation systems, user modeling or personalization, including rigorous A/B testing and metric analysis.
- Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience.

- We recognize that the ideal environment for work is situational and may differ across departments. What this looks like day-to-day can vary based on the needs of each organization or role.
- This role will need to be in the office for in-person collaboration 1-2 times per month and therefore needs to be in a commutable distance from one of the following offices: Dublin.
