Airbnb is seeking a seasoned Engineering Manager to lead a high-impact engineering team focused on Trust & Safety. In this role, you will drive the technical vision and execution for critical systems that safeguard the integrity of our platform, enhance user trust, and ensure the security of Airbnb’s global community.

As Engineering Manager, you will lead the team responsible for building the best-in-class tools and systems that power the Trust & Safety for Airbnb. You will be responsible for recruiting and building a team of top-notch engineers and building a culture of craftsmanship and excellence. You will represent your team with global leadership and be responsible for setting the long-term goals and strategy.
You’ll partner closely with product, data science, security, and other cross-functional teams to deliver innovative solutions that proactively protect our users and uphold the integrity of Airbnb’s platform. This is a highly visible role, ideal for a strategic technical leader with a passion for operational excellence and people leadership.

A Typical Day:

• Technical Leadership: Define and execute the technical strategy for trust and safety initiatives, ensuring alignment with Airbnb’s long-term goals.
• Team Management: Hire, mentor, and lead a high-performing engineering team. Foster a culture of innovation, and continuous improvement.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with product managers, data scientists, and partner engineering teams to develop effective, scalable solutions.
• Project Oversight: Lead end-to-end project execution, ensuring high-quality delivery across the software development lifecycle.
• Stakeholder Engagement: Provide clear communication of project status, risks, and opportunities to senior leadership and partners.
• Operational Excellence: Champion best practices for reliability, scalability, and incident response. Maintain operational readiness for critical systems.
• Industry Awareness: Stay current on trends in Trust & Safety, and drive adoption of best practices and innovations within the team.
• Global Alignment: Work with global counterparts to ensure the India team’s initiatives are aligned with broader Trust & Safety goals.

Your Expertise:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
• 10+ years of industry experience, including 5–7+ years in engineering management.
• Proven track record of delivering large-scale, secure, and reliable systems.
• Strong experience in leading technical strategy and building scalable engineering, data, or machine learning
• systems.
• Expertise in leading AI/ML teams and delivering AI-powered solutions is a strong plus.2
• Proficiency in at least one major language (e.g., Java, Python, Go, Ruby).
• Demonstrated ability to hire and retain top-tier engineering talent.
• Excellent communicator—capable of bridging technical and non-technical audiences.
• Experience setting multi-year strategies and aligning diverse stakeholders.
• Background working in fast-paced, agile environments with cross-functional teams.
• Passion for trust, safety, and driving positive social impact.
• Strong commitment to fostering diversity, equity, and inclusion within teams.
