Roblox’s Critical Harms Intelligence, Investigations, and Operations (CHIIOPS) team is dedicated to applying subject matter expertise to some of our most critical safety risks, helping ensure our users stay safe. As a Law Enforcement Investigation Specialist, you will support Roblox’s work to build deep-dive cases beyond our scaled reporting, and work with our cross-functional partners in Public Policy and Legal to package findings that will facilitate law enforcement review of Roblox-shared leads. Among other responsibilities, you will use on and off-platform investigative skills to identify information about malicious actors and their behaviors and help keep Roblox users - and the broader community - safe.
Please note: This role may review graphic, controversial, and sometimes offensive content in line with Roblox’s handling policies. This role will also require some on-call support.
You will report to the Critical Harms Intelligence, Investigations, and Operations Manager.
You will:
- Perform deep-dive investigations into suspicious activity and behavior on Roblox, to include on and off-platform conduct and identity attribution.
- Draft clear and concise high-quality case reports enumerating your findings and processes.
- Collaborate with other Roblox investigators, intel analysts, and subject matter experts to build information sharing processes and identify thresholds for lead sharing.
- Maintain well-organized, thoroughly documented investigative files to support efficient internal review by cross-functional Public Policy and Legal partners, in furtherance of external engagements with law enforcement.
You have:
- 3+ years experience investigating suspicious actors and behaviors on a gaming, social media, or other relevant platform, to include OSINT investigation.
- 2+ years experience working with data tools such as SQL and data visualization (e.g. Tableau) tools.
- Experience understanding law enforcement investigation thresholds and evidence needs.
- Strong communication skills, particularly in written communication.
- Demonstrated experience working with cross-functional partners to build information sharing processes and thresholds.
- Experience with the Roblox platform as a player and/or developer is a bonus.
For roles that are based at our headquarters in San Mateo, CA: The starting base pay for this position is as shown below. The actual base pay is dependent upon a variety of job-related factors such as professional background, training, work experience, location, business needs and market demand. Therefore, in some circumstances, the actual salary could fall outside of this expected range. This pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. All full-time employees are also eligible for equity compensation and for benefits as described on this page.
Roles that are based in an office are onsite Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, with optional presence on Monday and Friday (unless otherwise noted).
