The Basics
We are seeking a highly skilled IT Operations Administrator with expertise in Systems Administration to join the IT Engineering team at Tanium. The ideal candidate will play a pivotal role in designing, implementing, and managing our hybrid systems infrastructure to ensure the availability, security, and maintenance of our systems.
This position is remote but will be required to be within 1 hour of our colo facility in the Sacramento, CA area.
What You'll Do
- Go hands-on with servers, storage, and network equipment for upgrades, break/fix, and maintenance as needed, generally about once per month
- Be a part of an on-call rotation supporting physical infrastructure in our Sacramento Colo facility
- Leverage automation tools for tasks and integration of other central IT services
- Follow the change management process for system configuration, installations, and maintenance
- Collaborate with other technical teams to resolve operational challenges and streamline workflows
- Participate in projects related to Infrastructure, security, etc
- Solve incidents and administrative tasks related to infrastructure services and other escalations from end-user support.
- Maintain comprehensive documentation of system configurations, processes, and procedures.
- Effectively communicate technical concepts and solutions to non-technical stakeholders, fostering a collaborative and productive working environment.
- Be a team player who is adaptive, self-motivated, and solution-oriented
We’re looking for someone with
- 3+ yrs experience in a similar role
- Deep knowledge of fundamental infrastructure technologies, such as VMware, Enterprise backup methodologies, System Automation, Cloud Computing, and common Operating Systems (e.g. Windows, Linux, MacOS)
- Exposure to Python, Windows & Linux shell scripting
- Familiar with operation of performance monitoring and troubleshooting tools
- Experience in Active Directory and Entra ID
- Direct experience working with AWS, Azure, and/or Google Cloud
- Basic understanding of network services/protocols such as DNS, DHCP, etc
- Basic understanding of networking concepts such as Wifi, VLAN’s, VPN, zero-trust, etc
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, rapidly growing environment
The ideal candidate would also have experience in
- Administration and management of M365, SharePoint, Slack, Exchange Online, and Teams
- PowerShell for automation and task scripting
- Mobile device management (MDM) platforms such as JAMF and Intune
- Hands on with Tanium
- Ansible, Terraform, Github, Cloudflare

What you’ll get
The annual base salary range for this full-time position is $70,000 to $205,000. This range is an estimate for what Tanium will pay a new hire. The actual annual base salary offered may be adjusted based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, location, education, skills, training, and experience.
