Our Global Security team safeguards this ecosystem by conducting complex investigations, implementing mitigation strategies, and maintaining robust partnerships with law enforcement. We are looking for a Global Security Investigations Analyst Intern to join our team in the San Francisco office and provide the data-driven insights necessary to protect our people, assets, and reputation.
The Global Security Investigations Analyst Intern will report directly to a Global Security Investigations Manager while working in close daily collaboration with other Global Security Investigators. This role is pivotal in bridging the gap between raw investigative data and actionable intelligence. You will be responsible for triaging incoming leads, identifying emerging threat patterns, and supporting high-priority investigations that impact Lyft’s global footprint.
Responsibilities:
- Triage and Analysis: Serve as a member of the team responding to investigative leads, triaging and identifying potential risks to Lyft’s business units, including Risk, Community Safety, Payment, Identity, and Integrity (PII) and Flexdrive.
- Investigative Support: Collaborate directly with Global Security Investigators to provide analytical support on complex cases related to organized crime, fraud, trust & safety and internal threats.
- Data Intelligence: Analyze large datasets to identify trends in organized theft and security breaches, leveraging SQL and scripting to automate data collection and generate insights.
- Reporting: Build detailed investigating tooling to support investigative automation and efficiency using analytical software.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Build strong relationships with internal partners in Legal, Policy, Fraud, Trust & Safety, and Operations to drive mitigation solutions for identified gaps and risks.
- Case Management: Utilize case management, internal tools & apps and ticketing systems (e.g., Jira) to track, prioritize, and manage the lifecycle of multiple concurrent investigations.
- Program Support: Assist with Global Security and Executive Protection programs on an as-needed basis to ensure comprehensive organizational safety.
Experience:
- Education: Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Data Science or Data Analytics, Criminal Justice, International Relations, or a related field with a graduation date between December 2026 and Summer 2027 (required).
- Analytical Expertise: Proven experience in data analysis, root cause analysis, and recommending deterrent enhancements.
- Technical Proficiency: Strong familiarity with databases (SQL) and basic proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., Python) to analyze data and automate repetitive tasks.
- Communication: Outstanding written, verbal, and electronic communication skills, with the ability to present complex data to audiences of varying seniority.
- Investigative Mindset: A creative problem solver who can work autonomously and make independent decisions within a broad procedural framework.
- Adaptability: Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and ambiguous environment and manage multiple priorities with consistency and reliability.
- Integrity: Highest level of integrity and experience in the management of highly confidential and sensitive information.

The expected base pay range for this position in the San Francisco Bay Area is $33-$37/hour. Salary ranges are dependent on a variety of factors, including qualifications, experience and geographic location.
