Roblox is seeking a strategic, execution-oriented General Manager to lead our India business. As GM of India, you’ll be the accountable leader, our senior representative externally (across government, media, and partners) and the internal orchestrator across product, policy, and operations. You’ll drive Roblox’s regional strategy and execution, shaping how we grow, stay compliant, and build trust with users and stakeholders while managing tradeoffs.
You Have
- A track record of running complex, multi-country operations across the Indian technology landscape.
- Expertise operating in a global, matrixed organization.
- Proven success navigating India’s highly regulated or politically complex digital environment.
- Gaming and or UGC platform experience (a strong asset).
- Technical fluency and or background (preferred).
You Will
- Set ambitious regional goals and a clear strategy; lead day-to-day execution with local teams and partners.
- Act as India’s advocate within Roblox, ensuring regional needs (especially related to mobile performance, affordability, and content localization) and inform global priorities.
- Serve as the primary bridge between the local office and HQ across regulatory, product, safety, and operational topics.
- Establish the local office as an “early warning system” for regulatory, cultural, and market signals.
- Partner closely with Legal, Policy, and Trust & Safety teams to anticipate and navigate evolving regulatory obligations
- Establish strategic relationships with MeitY, industry associations (e.g., IAMAI, FICCI), ratings agencies, and media to reduce risk and ensure business continuity.
- Serve as a regional spokesperson on safety and integrity, strengthening public trust and resilience.
- Partner with HQ teams to craft and evangelize civility and edu initiatives via local program execution.
- Define and execute the regional growth plan to maximize user growth, bookings, and the health of the local creator ecosystem.
- Build on-the-ground presence to expand brand awareness and support creators—prioritizing key genre verticals.
- Build and deepen relationships with strategic partners across the region (e.g., telecoms, payment providers, leading content houses, and device manufacturers).
- Partner with HQ product and core functions to shape integrated roadmaps for Growth and Compliance.
You Are
- A seasoned executive with a track record of running complex, multi-country operations across a major international region.
- An expert at operating in a global, matrixed organization, providing dotted-line leadership while country leads report solid-line into global functions.
- Willing to spend 6-12 months at HQ (San Mateo, CA) in your first year to build deep alignment and strong cross-functional foundations before transitioning to a long-term base in Delhi. While frequent travel could be considered, a continuous block of time at HQ is strongly preferred to set up for long-term success in the region.
- Exceptional in communication skills, with proven ability to act as a spokesperson and provide regional legitimacy with governments and partners.
- Experienced in steering business and regulatory strategy across India’s digital and gaming sectors, including intermediary rules, online safety, and data protection, with a track record of productive engagement with government and industry leaders.
- Fluent in English (required).
- Proficient in Hindi and/or other major regional languages (e.g., Telugu, Tamil, Marathi) required to manage complex regulatory and cultural environments across major markets.
Roles that are based in an office are onsite Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, with optional presence on Monday and Friday (unless otherwise noted).
