About the team
The Fraud Risk Engineering team responsible for managing (merchant) fraud risk. We are committed to be the industry leader in merchant fraud risk management, providing robust protection for online platforms, including Stripe, against fraudsters of all sizes and complexities. The Fraud Controls team plays an integral role in achieving our mission through enforcement of necessary actions on fraudulent accounts while staying compliant with regulations and maintaining a delightful experience for legitimate users.
What you’ll do:
- Lead and grow an engineering team in Dublin: hire, coach, mentor, and develop engineers at all levels.
- Partner with Product and Strategy to define goals, prioritize work, and deliver high-quality outcomes.
- Drive operational excellence: set team processes, remove blockers, and create predictable delivery rhythms.
- Collaborate with staff engineers and technical leadership on architecture and strategic technical decisions; translate technical strategy into team-level plans.
- Build an inclusive, psychologically safe environment where engineers are challenged, supported, and able to learn and grow.
- Work effectively with geographically distributed colleagues and remote workers to ensure alignment and visibility

- 10+ years of professional software engineering experience, including 3+ years of experience as an Engineering Manager.
- Demonstrated success recruiting, building, and scaling engineering teams.
- Deep customer focus and a partnership mindset: you work closely with Product Managers, leaders, and engineers to understand and solve for real customer use cases.
- Strong cross-functional collaboration skills: you think rigorously, communicate clearly, and can lead or coordinate difficult trade-offs and decisions.
- Comfortable operating with high autonomy and responsibility in ambiguous, fast-changing environments.
- Acumen on architecture and strategic technical decisions.
- Ability to foster a healthy, inclusive, challenging, and supportive work environment.
- Experience working with distributed teams and remote colleagues; you know how to keep teams aligned and engaged across locations.
