Solution Overview
We are seeking an enthusiastic Engineering Lead to join the Financial Products Org, one of the key contributors to Adyen’s long term growth and success.
In this role, you will be a manager of managers and responsible to set and execute, together with your Product counterpart, on the strategy for the product and/or domain under your purview. You help your team to build their products as effectively as possible, while aligning with your many internal and external stakeholders to achieve the best possible outcome for Adyen's customers. Working with a global team and different technology stacks excite you and you're not afraid to challenge the status quo. We’re in a pivotal moment to shape the future of Financial Products in a truly global fashion.
You’ll partner closely with product, commercial leadership both in Financial Product as well as across Adyen Solutions to grow your product and/or systems into global solutions—leveraging your engineering expertise, technical judgement, collaboration and leadership skills to drive better results faster. You will be working across time zones, while playing a leadership role with high visibility, global scale, and direct impact on the future of Adyen.
What You'll Do
- Be a leader - define strategies to improve technical performance of your domain and better serve your customers (regardless of internal or external).
- Raise the bar - you help us raise ambitions and set a new standard on quality, reliability and robustness by driving systematic as well as tactical changes in the engineering systems, process and practices, as well as team culture.
- Build and motivate high throughput teams. You are constantly optimizing for the team’s decision making and execution, ensuring they are unblocked and are making optimized decisions balancing short-term deliveries vs long-term scalability and sustainability.
- Be a collaborator and team player for Adyen - that translates into being a close partner with our product team to design, define, and shape new product offerings; with GTM teams to understand and address customer needs; with other functions to define how things work end-to-end.

- Execution aptitude: You make a team deliver faster and better (quality).
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate closely with design, product, engineers, sales, account management, and other key stakeholders within Adyen to foster seamless collaboration and drive product development excellence
- Product Strategy: Craft a long-term vision for your team's product (internal or external), striking a pragmatic balance between trade-offs and aligning it with the overarching company vision.
- Have a sophisticated set of toolkits to navigate the broad set of topics in people and talent management, such as recruiting, talent growth, coaching & mentorship, performance improvement, relationship topics, etc..
- You are a strong and effective communicator and tailor your communication approach and focus based on the audience.
Minimum Qualifications:
- 12+ years of tech experience, including 6+ years of management.
- Leading organizations of 40+ engineers.
- Experience in owning and driving your KPI metrics.
- Prior experience in relevant fintech domains, such as card issuing, payment processing, lending/capital, money movement, is a major plus.
The annual base salary range for this role is $260,000 - $348,000 in San Francisco and $255,00 - $317,000 in Chicago, plus RSUs; to learn more about our compensation philosophy, please click here.
