About the Team

At Okta, our India Recruiting team plays a critical role in building the talent engine that fuels our global innovation. We are builders, partners, and advisors who thrive in fast-paced, ambiguous environments and take pride in delivering exceptional hiring outcomes at scale.

We are seeking a Director, Recruiting, to lead and accelerate our engineering and product hiring across our India Innovation Center. This is a highly visible leadership role for a strategic operator who can build world-class teams, influence senior leaders, and shape Okta’s long-term growth in India.

The Opportunity

As Director, Recruiting, you will own the end-to-end technical hiring strategy for one of Okta’s most important growth markets. You will serve as the primary architect of our India technical talent ecosystem—building scalable programs, developing high-performing teams, and partnering deeply with global and regional leaders.

You will act as both a hands-on leader and a strategic advisor, balancing near-term hiring demands with long-term workforce planning. This role requires strong business acumen, operational rigor, and the ability to lead through influence across geographies.

What You’ll Do

Strategic Leadership

  • Develop and execute a multi-year technical recruiting strategy aligned to Okta’s product roadmap and business priorities.
  • Partner closely with Engineering, Product, and Platform leadership to forecast talent needs and drive workforce planning.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to senior leaders on talent market trends, competitive intelligence, and hiring strategy.

Organizational Design & Team Development

  • Build, scale, and lead a high-performing technical recruiting organization in India.
  • Establish clear operating models, roles, and career paths to support growth and retention.
  • Coach, mentor, and develop managers and individual contributors to deliver sustained excellence.

Business Partnership & Influence

  • Operate as a strategic partner to Finance, People Partners, Compensation, and Operations teams.
  • Lead quarterly and annual hiring planning processes.
  • Influence global stakeholders in a matrixed environment to drive alignment and execution.

Operational Excellence & Scalability

  • Design and implement best-in-class recruiting processes, systems, and governance.
  • Drive performance through data, dashboards, and rigorous operating rhythms.
  • Ensure consistent delivery against KPIs, including time-to-fill, quality of hire, and candidate experience.

Employer Brand & Market Presence

  • Elevate Okta’s employer brand across India’s technical ecosystem.
  • Lead partnerships with universities, communities, and industry networks.
  • Champion innovative sourcing, branding, and engagement programs.

Culture & Values Leadership

  • Serve as a steward of Okta’s values and culture.
  • Foster an inclusive, high-trust environment where teams can do their best work.
  • Act as a visible ambassador for Okta in the Indian market.

What You’ll Bring

  • 10+ years of progressive experience in technical recruiting or talent acquisition, including engineering and product hiring.
  • 5+ years of people leadership experience managing managers and/or large teams.
  • Proven experience building and scaling recruiting functions in the Indian market.
  • Strong track record of partnering with VP-level and executive stakeholders.
  • Experience operating in global, matrixed organizations and influencing without direct authority.
  • Demonstrated expertise in data-driven talent strategy, workforce analytics, and market intelligence.
  • Ability to balance speed, quality, and long-term scalability in a high-growth environment.
  • Exceptional communication, stakeholder management, and executive presence.

Preferred Qualifications (Nice to Have)

  • Experience building or scaling a major technology hub or center of excellence in India (Bengaluru strongly preferred).
  • Program or project management experience within Talent Acquisition.
  • Background in high-growth SaaS or cloud-based technology companies.
  • Demonstrated passion for continuous improvement and innovation.
