Meet Benevity

Benevity is the way the world does good, providing companies (and their employees) with technology to take social action on the issues they care about. Through giving, volunteering, grantmaking, employee resource groups and micro-actions, we help most of the Fortune 100 brands build better cultures and use their power for good. We’re also one of the first B Corporations in Canada, meaning we’re as committed to purpose as we are to profits. We have people working all over the world, including Canada, Spain, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, the United States and more!

The Director, IT is a strategic and operational role responsible for executing Benevity’s internal technology strategy. This role will provide direct management and hands-on leadership over Infrastructure Operations, while also leading high-performing teams across Service Desk, Business Systems, and IT Procurement. Reporting directly to the CISO, this position plays a pivotal part in enabling scalable growth, digital transformation, and an exceptional employee experience through secure, resilient, and high-performance cloud-native infrastructure and intelligent automation. The successful candidate will bring strong technical depth in cloud and modern infrastructure, a modern leadership mindset, and a forward-thinking approach to AI strategy and enterprise enablement.

What you’ll do

  • Directly own and manage the Infrastructure Operations function, overseeing the design, deployment, maintenance, and security of all cloud and on-premise infrastructure, networks, and compute resources to ensure maximum uptime and performance
  • Provide strategic and operational leadership across Service Desk, Infrastructure Operations, Business Systems, and Procurement
  • Drive significant modernization and optimization of the IT infrastructure, focusing on security, cost efficiency, automation (Infrastructure as Code), and scalability in a cloud-native environment
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to senior leadership by translating complex technical concepts into actionable business outcomes
  • Oversee the employee technology experience, ensuring seamless support, secure access, and high-performing digital workplace tools
  • Establish and enforce rigorous infrastructure standards, IT policies, processes, and service levels that support business continuity, compliance, and superior operational resilience
  • Own the Software Procurement and Renewals Lifecycle (SPRL), driving value and clarity in vendor management and contract strategy
  • Collaborate with Legal, Finance, Risk, and Compliance to align procurement, security, and integration processes with enterprise governance
  • Track and report on key IT performance metrics, including infrastructure service-level agreements (SLAs) and availability, to measure service quality, innovation velocity, and operational resilience
  • Guide teams through complex technological transitions and organizational change with a thoughtful, human-centered approach

What you’ll bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field; advanced degree or AI/ML education is a strong asset
  • 10+ years of progressive IT leadership experience in cloud-first, high-growth, or SaaS environments, including senior management roles
  • A minimum of 5 years of direct managerial and technical ownership experience over Infrastructure Operations (including cloud platforms, networking, and core compute), specifically in a high-availability, cloud-native setting
  • Deep technical expertise in modern infrastructure architecture, including proficiency in public cloud services (e.g., AWS, GCP, or Azure), Infrastructure as Code (IaC), monitoring, and automated resilience/disaster recovery planning
  • Deep expertise in all facets of IT operations, including Infrastructure ownership, service delivery, procurement, and enterprise SaaS ecosystems
  • Proven ability to lead technical teams while influencing executive-level stakeholders with clarity, integrity, and strategic foresight
  • Experience with platforms such as OKTA, Google Workspace, Kandji, Slack, and other modern enterprise IT tools
  • Clear, confident communication skills and a strong customer- and employee-experience mindset
  • Familiarity with IT service management frameworks (such as ITIL) and agile delivery practices
  • A strong sense of ownership, adaptability, and a commitment to fostering an inclusive, empowered, and high-performing team culture
